According to reporters' observations, in recent days, banks throughout the province have seen a significant increase in the number of customers conducting transactions at counters and withdrawing money from ATMs. Simultaneously, money transfers and electronic payments at markets, supermarkets, and shops have also been more active than usual. This places a high demand on the banking system in the province to ensure adequate technical infrastructure, cash supply, and system security.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Duc, Director of the Vietnam Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (Agribank) Lang Son Branch, stated: The branch has proactively maintained an appropriate amount of cash, ensuring the quantity and denomination structure. In addition, the bank regularly maintains and services ATMs and POS machines, and periodically upgrades software to minimize errors and transmission problems. Currently, the branch has 29 ATMs, including 11 CDM machines and 36 POS machines. The branch replenishes cash once or twice a week to ensure the payment, deposit, and withdrawal needs of the people are met. In particular, for electronic payment transactions, the bank focuses on improving service quality, upgrading software, and assigning technical staff to be on duty to immediately address any issues caused by an overload of customer access.
At the Vietnam Foreign Trade Commercial Bank (Vietcombank) Lang Son Branch, the unit has also proactively prepared solutions to ensure smooth transactions during the year-end peak payment period. Ms. Dinh Huyen Trang, Head of Customer Service Department of Vietcombank Lang Son, said: Currently, Vietcombank Lang Son has 3 transaction offices; 10 ATMs; and nearly 200 POS machines spread throughout the province. During the period leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), the demand for transactions and payments increases significantly. Therefore, the bank has proactively implemented solutions to ensure the safe and continuous operation of payment services and ATM systems to meet the payment and shopping needs of the people. During the period before Tet, the bank replenishes cash 3-5 times a week. In addition, the bank proactively reviews, maintains, and services all ATMs and POS machines, and upgrades software to ensure smooth transactions for the people.
The province currently has 16 first-level credit institution branches; 12 second-level branches; 55 transaction offices; 98 ATMs/CDMs/CRMs; and 321 POS devices, contributing to meeting the increasing transaction and payment needs of the people.
To ensure smooth and safe banking operations during the Tet holiday, the State Bank of Vietnam Region 5 has directed banks in the area to implement specific measures such as: ensuring the smooth functioning of the payment system, assigning staff to operate 24/7, maintaining a hotline to receive and immediately resolve customer feedback, and ensuring the supply of cash for circulation. In addition, they are strengthening security and safety measures and educating customers on how to prevent fraud, high-tech crimes, and property theft; enhancing the sense of responsibility of staff, and requiring bank branches to flexibly extend service hours during peak settlement periods to quickly address the needs of people and businesses in the area.
Ms. Nong Thi Dien from Tam Thanh ward said: "In the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), I frequently need to withdraw and transfer money for shopping and expenses. I find the banks' service very good. When withdrawing money at ATMs, I find the machines operate stably; and money transfers are also very fast and uninterrupted. Therefore, I feel very secure using banking services."
As the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026 approaches, along with the synchronized implementation of solutions to ensure system security, banks in the province continue to promote and guide people in using cashless payment services. This contributes to improving service quality, promoting modern and secure payments, and meeting the spending and shopping needs of people during the Tet holiday.
