According to information from the National Steering Committee for the 2024 High School Graduation Examination, after receiving feedback from several media outlets regarding the Literature exam questions in the 2024 High School Graduation Examination coinciding with some speculations on social media before the exam, the Standing Committee of the National Steering Committee for the 2024 High School Graduation Examination requested the Exam Question Drafting Council to report and provide feedback.

According to the report, the Literature exam followed the structure and format announced by the Ministry of Education and Training, with a reasonable distribution between the Poetry and Prose sections.

The reading comprehension section of the exam discusses the creativity and responsibility of the artist, elements that shape the history of human art; this does not coincide with previous assumptions.

Regarding the social commentary essay (writing section), regardless of the topic, candidates are always required to make connections to real-world situations, express their thoughts, feelings, observations, and responsibilities regarding the issue, ensuring practicality, educational orientation, and the cultivation of character and personality—all of which are aimed at in many documents and works.

The number of literary works in the current curriculum and the scope of the exam questions are limited. Therefore, correctly guessing the title of the work and author used in the exam is random and possible. However, whether the exam uses the entire work, a part of the work, or a specific part of the work, as well as the requirements (questions) given to the candidates, are completely different from the prior guess.

At this point, the National Steering Committee for the 2024 High School Graduation Examination has confirmed that the Literature exam paper has been kept completely confidential.

Information regarding this morning's exam (June 27th): The total number of candidates registered for the Literature exam was 1,054,601; the total number of candidates who actually took the exam was 1,050,622, achieving a participation rate of 99.62%. The total number of exam locations nationwide was 2,323, with a total of 45,149 exam rooms.

During the Literature exam, 7 candidates violated the exam regulations, and all 7 were suspended. The reasons were that 3 candidates brought unauthorized materials and 4 candidates used mobile phones. The number of candidates violating the exam regulations decreased compared to 2023 (in 2023, there were 12 candidates violating the regulations in the Literature exam). Overall, the Literature exam took place safely, orderly, seriously, and in accordance with the regulations. This afternoon, candidates will take the Mathematics exam, starting at 2:30 PM (90 minutes).
