On the afternoon of March 26, on the occasion of Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and his wife Loo Tze Lui's official visit to Vietnam, Ms. Ngo Phuong Ly, wife of General Secretary To Lam, received and enjoyed Vietnamese folk art and culture with his wife Loo Tze Lui at the Presidential Palace.

In a friendly and open atmosphere, Madam Ngo Phuong Ly expressed her joy at meeting and welcoming Madam Loo Tze Lui in Vietnam. The visit took place in the middle of Spring, the season when trees sprout, grow, and all things grow, marking the beginning of good luck and fortune. Therefore, Madam Ngo Phuong Ly believes that the official visit to Vietnam by the Prime Minister , his wife and the Singaporean high-ranking delegation will be a great success, opening a new chapter for the relationship between Vietnam and Singapore.

Recalling her official visit to Singapore from March 11-13, Madam Ngo Phuong Ly expressed her respect and gratitude for the warm and respectful welcome that the Prime Minister, his wife, the Government and people of Singapore gave to General Secretary To Lam and his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation.

Sharing her good impressions of the beautiful, modern island nation of Singapore and the friendly, hospitable Singaporean people, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly said she was impressed with the orchid naming ceremony and still holds deep feelings when returning to Vietnam. The new orchid named Papilionanda To Lam Linh Ly is still taken care of by her every day and was also brought to today's reunion.

Sincerely thanking Madam Ngo Phuong Ly for taking the time to meet, Madam Loo Tze Lui said that this visit is of great significance to the relationship between the two countries. She also expressed her joy that the General Secretary's wife was impressed with the country, the people of Singapore and the special gift of orchids.

The Singaporean Prime Minister's wife shared that although her visit to Vietnam was not long, she was able to visit some places such as the Museum of Ethnology and enjoy some Vietnamese dishes, thereby feeling that Vietnam is a country with a long history and rich cultural traditions.

The two ladies shared about the cultural values ​​of each country, including orchids and lotus, two flowers considered the national flowers of each country. In detail introducing the weaving method and respectfully presenting Mrs. Loo Tze Lui with a traditional ao dai, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly introduced to the Singaporean Prime Minister's wife the history of the Vietnamese ao dai and the meaning of the lotus on the ao dai she presented.

After the conversation, the two ladies enjoyed water puppetry, a unique form of Vietnamese folk culture, representing the folk culture of the Northern Delta region of Vietnam. Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly hopes that through the water puppetry performances, Mrs. Loo Tze Lui will feel and understand more about the cultural life of the Vietnamese people.
