On October 24, 2025, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Science and Technology held the 2024 Science and Technology Journalism Award Ceremony. This is an award organized annually by the Ministry of Science and Technology to honor authors with outstanding journalism works on science and technology, demonstrating the Ministry's recognition in honoring journalists with a scientific spirit, making every effort to research, discover, and reflect the results of science and technology activities in the development of the country.

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong spoke at the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong affirmed that Science and Technology Journalism is not only an information channel, but also a pioneering force in spreading knowledge, arousing the spirit of creativity and the aspiration to develop the country with knowledge and technology.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that the 2024 Science and Technology Journalism Award is not only an occasion to honor outstanding journalistic works, but also an opportunity to look back on the past journey, affirming the important role of journalism in the cause of national development, especially in the context of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation becoming strategic pillars of national development.

This year's award takes place in the context of the Politburo issuing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, identifying science, technology, innovation and digital transformation as one of the strategic pillars for Vietnam to become a developed country. In order for the innovative and breakthrough ideas in the Resolution to spread widely, the press, especially the press on science, technology, innovation and digital transformation, is the pioneering force, a solid bridge between policy and practice.

The Deputy Minister pointed out that in the coming period, it is necessary to form a stronger, more modern, and more creative science and technology journalism community. The press needs to be a pioneer in grasping new technologies, applying artificial intelligence, big data, data journalism, and multi-platform journalism to reach the public faster, more widely, and more attractively.

The Ministry of Science and Technology will continue to accompany, support and facilitate press agencies, from research, technology application, digital transformation to providing official scientific data sources and strengthening coordination with the media to help science and technology press become a core force in communicating about science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.

Reporting on the awarding process, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Hang, Director of the Center for Science and Technology Communication, Ministry of Science and Technology, said that the 2024 Science and Technology Journalism Award has received widespread attention and response from central and local press agencies, with nearly 200 works and groups of works submitted by journalists, reporters, and editors from many major press agencies across the country.

According to the evaluation of the Awarding Council, this year's works reflect richly and deeply all aspects of science and technology activities, from research and application at the local level and in enterprises to innovative initiatives in people's lives. Many works clearly demonstrate the spirit of dedication, responsibility and enthusiasm of journalists for the cause of science and technology development; some articles are carefully invested, in-depth, choosing current topics, reflecting the breath of life and suggesting many practical solutions for science and technology development in the new period.

The honored works not only stand out in terms of content and form of expression, but also have a strong influence, contributing to honoring science and technology journalism as a forum for creativity, inspiration and spreading knowledge to the community.

According to journalist Nguyen Thi Hanh, for those who work in science and technology journalism, transforming a dry scientific work into a profound, emotional television work is a big challenge. From the idea, script, filming to post-production, every detail is carefully invested to ensure both scientific quality and evoke human emotions.

"I believe that all the authors present here today are passionate and committed to the field of science and technology, a field that is not easy to exploit but is extremely meaningful, because it is linked to the future, intelligence and aspirations for development of the nation. The attraction of the Award has shown the growing interest of the press and the public in science and technology - the key resource for sustainable development."

Making a recommendation to the leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology, journalist Nguyen Thi Hanh hopes that in the coming time, the Ministry of Science and Technology will continue to expand the scale and scope of the Award, so that more and more journalists can accompany the cause of science and technology development more deeply, contributing to spreading the spirit of innovation, implementing Resolution 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation.

At the Award Ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded 4 First prizes, 5 Second prizes, 5 Third prizes and 10 Consolation prizes.

The authors/author groups winning the First Prize will receive the Cup, Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Science and Technology and prizes; The authors/author groups winning the Second Prize, Third Prize and Encouragement Prize will receive the Certificate, Cup of the 2024 Science and Technology Journalism Award and prizes.
