Hanoi protects the place name 'Chuyen My' for unique mother-of-pearl inlay products

Hanoi City People's Committee allows Phu Chuyen Agricultural Cooperative to use the place name 'Chuyen My' to register a collective trademark for mother-of-pearl, shell, and lacquer inlay products.

The Hanoi People's Committee has just agreed to allow Phu Chuyen Agricultural Cooperative to use the place name "Chuyen My" to register for collective trademark protection "Mother-inlaid, shell - lacquer Chuyen My - Hanoi".

This decision was signed and issued by the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, Mr. Truong Viet Dung in Official Dispatch No. 5876/QD-UBND, allowing the above place name along with the geographical map confirmed by the People's Committee of Chuyen My commune to be used for products and services of mother-of-pearl inlay, shell, and lacquer in Chuyen My commune. The registration of this collective trademark belongs to groups of goods and services 16, 20, 21 and 35 according to the International Classification of Goods and Services under the Nice Agreement.

Phu Chuyen Agricultural Cooperative is responsible for developing documents and tools for managing collective trademarks, and at the same time organizing the supervision of the use of place names in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Intellectual Property.

In case the place name "Chuyen My" is misused, does not serve the common interests of the Cooperative or the collective trademark is transferred to another owner, or the product is transferred to registration for protection as a "Certified Trademark", the Hanoi City People's Committee has the right to revoke the right to use this place name according to the provisions of the decision.
