On the afternoon of December 4th, at a press conference on the economy and society of Ho Chi Minh City, a representative from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction stated that the city has been closely coordinating with localities, especially Dong Nai province, to promote infrastructure projects that enhance connectivity with Long Thanh airport.

In terms of road infrastructure, there are six projects connecting to the airport. Among them, the 206km-long Ring Road 4 (with 4 lanes) is currently in the investment preparation phase, with construction expected to begin in June 2026 and be completed in 2028.

The remaining five projects, with a total length of approximately 238km, are currently underway. These include the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, aiming for completion in December 2025, and the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway, expected to be completed in September 2026.

The Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway expansion project is expected to be largely completed in 2026, with the Long Thanh bridge scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027. Construction on the section from Ring Road 2 to the An Phu interchange commenced on November 22nd.

The Ring Road 3 project is accelerating the technical opening of at least 30km in 2025, with the remaining section scheduled for technical opening on April 30, 2026, and completion by June 30, 2026. Provincial Road 25C has completed 7.6km, with 6.4km under construction and expected to be finished this year.

Regarding the national railway system, the Ministry of Construction is preparing to invest in the North-South high-speed line, scheduled to begin construction at the end of 2026 and be completed in 2035, along with the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau line. Ho Chi Minh City has also assigned Becamex to study the Bau Bang - Cai Mep railway line, aiming to begin construction in 2027 and complete it before 2035.

With urban rail, three metro corridors will play a role in connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Long Thanh Airport. The first corridor is Metro Line 2 and the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh route. The Ben Thanh - Tham Luong section is being implemented with public investment, commenced before the 14th Party Congress and is scheduled for completion in 2030.

The Ben Thanh - Thu Thiem section and the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh line have been approved by the Prime Minister on October 29, 2025, for adjustment into metro projects, and Ho Chi Minh City has been assigned to lead the project. The city has tasked Truong Hai Group with proposing a PPP (Public-Private Partnership) plan, aiming for commencement in 2026 and completion in 2030.

The second corridor is Metro Line 6 (Tan Son Nhat - Phu Huu - Thu Thiem - Long Thanh). The city prioritizes the early construction of the Tan Son Nhat - Phu Huu section to connect with the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh line, aiming for commencement in 2026 and completion in 2030.

The third corridor is Metro Line 6, connecting to Metro Line 1, and then extending to the new administrative center of Dong Nai and Long Thanh Airport. Ho Chi Minh City is the managing authority for Metro Line 6, while Dong Nai is implementing the extension of Metro Line 1, aiming for completion in 2030.
