Golden opportunity
Today, December 4, at the seminar "Robots and Intelligent Automation" organized by VinFuture Foundation in Hanoi , Dr. Nguyen Trung Quan, University of Southern California (USA), Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer of VinMotion, shared the challenges and opportunities for Vietnam when developing humanoid robots and physical artificial intelligence.

According to Dr. Nguyen Trung Quan , the combination of artificial intelligence (AI) and physics can create breakthroughs in scientific research. This combination helps machines not only understand but also interact with the real environment, creating an AI ecosystem that not only thinks but also acts. Many experts predict that in the next 10 years, the world's physical AI market can reach a scale of up to 10,000 billion USD.
Vietnam is a very worthy place to invest in developing physical AI through the humanoid robot industry due to its many advantages.
Sharing with the press on the sidelines of the discussion, Dr. Nguyen Trung Quan added: "Vietnam possesses many advantages in all three important aspects of humanoid robots, including good hardware, strong software and the ability to operate safely and reliably. We have all these factors and can develop them simultaneously, creating a foundation to enter the international technology competition."
According to Dr. Nguyen Trung Quan, the robotics industry requires three very important things: high-tech human resources for software and AI development; flexible manufacturing for prototyping and hardware production; and trust and security in application deployment. Currently, the US is dominant in the first area, China has an advantage in the second. If positioned correctly, Vietnam can emerge as a counterweight to both the US and China because it can do well in all three areas.
"Our starting point is not too far from the world . We can completely believe that we can do well if we have enough faith and focus on investing in this area.
With good orientation and support from the Government, I believe that Vietnam can become a major competitor, even a leader in the development of robotics in the world. In my opinion, this is a golden opportunity for Vietnam to rise up and put its name on the world technology map," said Dr. Nguyen Trung Quan.
The goal is to stand shoulder to shoulder with the technological superpowers.
Also according to Dr. Nguyen Trung Quan, when accepting to lead VinMotion (this company was established nearly a year ago - PV), he and his colleagues set the goal of competing with the humanoid robot industry in the world.
"The VinMotion team and I always aspire to contribute to bringing Vietnam on par with the world's leading technology powers. I know this is a huge goal, but I believe this is the golden time for us to dream of it," said Dr. Nguyen Trung Quan.
Dr. Nguyen Trung Quan analyzed: "Vietnam has a very flexible manufacturing industry, very suitable for the production and improvement of fast robot models, with guaranteed quality but reasonable costs. This helps us a lot in continuously improving our robots. With the support of Vingroup, we can cooperate with many different subsidiaries to soon deploy and improve our technology. Currently, we are testing in many different companies, from VinFast, Vinpearl to Vinmec.
We aim for a complete product that can operate for a long time, stably and at a reasonable cost, not just a demo technology in the lab. Therefore, these are huge competitive advantages for us to continuously improve our products and technology faster than any other partner."
Dr. Nguyen Trung Quan added: "We are implementing strategic cooperation with a leading global corporation in AI chips. This is an important strategic cooperation, laying a solid foundation for VinMotion to improve its position in the international arena.
We are implementing research cooperation with many leading humanoid robot research labs in the US. This not only helps position VinMotion's brand and international influence, but is also a very valuable opportunity for the Vietnamese engineering team at VinMotion to learn the most advanced technologies, in order to build a knowledge and technical foundation ready for the sustainable development of VinMotion Company in particular as well as the Vietnamese robotics industry in general."
