The Vietnamese table tennis team held an exchange with Russian athletes in preparation for the 33rd SEA Games.

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - On December 4th in Hanoi, the Vietnamese table tennis team trained and interacted with athletes from Russia to gain experience and improve their skills before competing at the 33rd SEA Games.

An international friendly match with Russian athletes was held at the People's Police Sports Training and Competition Center (Hanoi). The Russian athletes, known for their high level of technique and tactical play, provided valuable challenges and experiences for the Vietnamese table tennis team.

Participating in this training session were familiar faces of Vietnamese table tennis such as: Dinh Anh Hoang, Tran Mai Ngoc (the mixed doubles champions of SEA Games 32), Nguyen Duc Tuan, the men's singles champion of SEA Games 31, Mai Hoang My Trang, a Vietnamese table tennis legend and the leading figure of the team at this SEA Games.

In addition, the duo Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh (left) and Le Dinh Duc (right) are also expected to spring a big surprise at the SEA Games 33.

In particular, the presence of tennis player Dinh Anh Hoang is expected to "bring gold" back to Vietnamese sports. With many outstanding achievements, the player born in 2001 has won the men's singles championship at the 2025 National Outstanding Tennis Player Tournament and 3 gold medals at the 2025 National Strong Team Tournament (men's team, men's doubles, mixed doubles).

The friendly match with Russian athletes was seen as the perfect warm-up, providing valuable experience and helping the athletes reach their peak performance before heading to the regional sports games.

Although it was only a friendly match, the Vietnamese and Russian athletes clearly demonstrated their professional quality and skill through closely contested games.

Russian athletes are known for their fast ball speed and varied serves, forcing Vietnamese athletes to improve their reflexes and situational awareness under high pressure.

Dinh Anh Hoang beamed with joy after securing a convincing victory against the Russian athlete.

The 33rd SEA Games will take place from December 9th to 20th in Thailand, with three main venues: Bangkok, Chonburi, and Songkhla.

The Vietnamese table tennis team carries high expectations from fans and experts alike, determined to translate their training efforts into a prestigious gold medal at the upcoming SEA Games 33.
