Tran Quyet Chien and Thanh Luc advance to the quarter-finals

The highlight of the 3-cushion carom event within the framework of the 2025 HBSF MIN Table billiards championship taking place on December 4 is the round of 16 (knockout) to determine the excellent names in the quarterfinals. The attention of fans is focused on the "super classic" match between the 2023 World Championship champion Bao Phuong Vinh and the 2025 Bogota World Cup champion Tran Thanh Luc.

Contrary to predictions of a dramatic match, Tran Thanh Luc with a series of 12 points took an early lead of 24-8 in the first half. In the second half, Thanh Luc continued to score another 8-point run, creating a one-sided game to win 40-13 after 18 turns.

In the same match, Tran Quyet Chien also had an overwhelming victory of 40-17 after 29 rounds against Duong Thanh Trung. Notably, the player nicknamed “bounty hunter” Nguyen Nhat Hoa eliminated SEA Games champion Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu with a score of 40-37 after 27 rounds.

The remaining names that won tickets to the quarterfinals include: Cao Phan Triet Luat, Ho Quan Thai, Vo Quoc Thang, Nguyen Nhu Le and Pham Quoc Thich.

In the men's 9-ball pool, Duong Quoc Hoang (Hoang Sao) continued to show his class with a 9-5 victory over Ngo Hong Thang in the round of 16. The remaining seven names in the quarterfinals are all top Vietnamese players such as Nguyen Hoang Minh Tai, Pham Phuong Nam, Nguyen Van Hung Phu, Ho So Phat, Ho Minh Hanh, Nguyen Khanh Hoang and Nguyen Anh Tuan.

In the quarterfinals of the women's pool event, a big surprise happened when veteran player Huynh Thi Ngoc Huyen lost 5-7 to Tran Thi Kim Quyen. "Hot girl" Phung Hoang Phuong Uyen won 7-4 against Vu Ngoc Ky Duyen. Le Hong Nhung won overwhelmingly 7-1 against Nguyen Ngoc Gia Trang, and Bui Xuan Vang won 7-3 against Kieu Tuyet Nhung.

The most exciting event was the women’s 3-cushion carom event, which saw the participation of many international players. After the quarter-final round at the end of the day, host Vietnam had only one representative left, Nguyen Thi Bich Tram. The remaining three players in the semi-finals were Park Ji-hyun, Choi Bome (Korea) and Ayaka Miyashita (Japan).

December 5 is also the final day of the tournament, HBSF MIN Table 2025 will take place the semi-finals and finals of women's 3-cushion carom and women's pool. In parallel, there will be quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals of men's pool and men's 3-cushion carom to determine the 4 champions of the tournament.

The 2025 HBSF MIN Table Championship takes place from December 1-5 at Rach Mieu Stadium (Cau Kieu Ward, Ho Chi Minh City). This is the final round in 2025 within the HBSF Tour system organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Billiards & Snooker Federation (HBSF), gathering 170 athletes competing in 4 events including men's 9-ball pool, women's 9-ball pool, men's 3-cushion carom and women's 3-cushion carom.
