On the afternoon of December 4 at the Ministry of Public Security Sports Center (Hanoi), the Vietnamese table tennis team competed with the Russian table tennis team. The event was part of the Russian table tennis team's visit, exchange and training at the invitation of the Vietnam Table Tennis Federation.
The competition took place in a mixed team format, including 1 mixed doubles match, 1 men's singles match, 1 women's singles match and 1 men's doubles match. The matches were exciting and were assessed by the coaching staff of the Vietnam table tennis team as being of high quality.
After 4 fierce matches, the Russian table tennis team won 3-1. The only win of the Vietnamese table tennis team was the men's singles match of Nguyen Anh Tu.
Although the Russian table tennis team brought a young squad to Vietnam, this series of matches also has many important meanings and has a certain professional impact on the Vietnamese table tennis team in the preparation process for the 33rd SEA Games.
Here, Vietnamese athletes have the opportunity to approach the modern, disciplined and fast playing style of a table tennis country with a strong tradition in Europe. Thereby, they can practice their competitive spirit, perfect their tactics, and more accurately assess their current abilities and the areas that need to be improved before the regional sports festival.
After this match, the Russian table tennis team will leave Vietnam on December 5. The Vietnamese table tennis team will continue training in Hanoi before leaving for Thailand on December 10.
The 33rd SEA Games table tennis will take place from December 12 to 19. The goal of the Vietnamese table tennis team at this year's regional sports festival is to win a gold medal.
