The first Vietnamese to become Citibank General Director

(NLDO) – Ms. Ngo Thi Hong Minh is the first Vietnamese to hold the position of General Director of Citibank.

On December 5, Citi Bank announced the decision to appoint Ms. Ngo Thi Hong Minh to the position of General Director of Citibank NA, Ho Chi Minh City branch and in charge of Citi's overall operations in Vietnam.

Ms. Minh is the first Vietnamese to hold the position of General Director since the bank began operating in Vietnam more than 30 years ago.

In her new role, Ms. Minh will be the highest representative of Citi, leading the unified leadership of all business operations of the bank in Vietnam.

Ms. Ngo Thi Hong Minh has nearly 25 years of experience working in the financial industry. She joined Citi in early 2024, in charge of the capital and markets business.

According to the institution, the appointment of Ms. Ngo Thi Hong Minh continues to affirm the bank's long-term commitment to Vietnam, while emphasizing the growing importance of the Vietnamese market in the bank's Asia South market cluster.

Citi is one of the oldest banks in the US, with a presence in more than 180 countries. In early 2023, Citi completed the transfer of its retail banking business in four Southeast Asian markets (including Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia) to UOB Bank (headquartered in Singapore). In Vietnam, this bank currently focuses on corporate customers.
