On June 1st, the Da Nang City People's Committee held a meeting to assess the socio-economic situation in May and propose solutions to maintain growth in the coming months.
Da Nang tourism continues to maintain record-breaking appeal.
According to the Da Nang City People's Committee, tourism continues to be the brightest spot in Da Nang's economic picture in the first five months of 2016, with both international and domestic visitor numbers increasing sharply, leading to a resurgence in the trade, service, and transportation sectors.
By the end of May, accommodation establishments in Da Nang served approximately 1.78 million visitors, an increase of nearly 29% compared to the same period last year. Of these, international visitors accounted for 872,000, an increase of over 31%; and domestic visitors accounted for 906,000, an increase of nearly 27%.
In the first five months of the year, the total number of overnight visitors reached approximately 7.74 million, an increase of 20.9% compared to the same period in 2015. International visitors alone accounted for over 4.18 million, continuing to play a key role in the growth of the city's tourism industry.

According to the tourism industry's assessment, this result was achieved thanks to a series of cultural events, festivals, sports events, and tourism stimulus programs organized continuously since the beginning of the year, helping Da Nang maintain its attractiveness to both domestic and international tourists.
The growth of the tourism industry also has a ripple effect on many other sectors. Trade, services, and transportation continue to maintain positive growth momentum as the supply of goods remains stable and the market does not experience shortages or unusual price fluctuations.
Da Nang collects over 34,000 billion VND in budget revenue.
As of May 20th, the total budget revenue of Da Nang city reached 34,315 billion VND, equivalent to 51.69% of the 2026 budget forecast.
Besides tourism and trade, industrial production continues to be one of the key drivers of Da Nang's economy.
In May alone, the city issued new registration certificates to 599 businesses, branches, and representative offices with a total registered capital of over 5,708 billion VND.

From the beginning of the year until now, the city has seen the establishment of 3,165 new businesses, an increase of over 40% compared to the same period last year, of which 1,426 businesses have resumed operations.
Along with attracting investment, Da Nang city continues to promote public investment and infrastructure development. By the end of May, the entire city had disbursed more than 3,095 billion VND in public investment capital, reaching 19.22% of the annual plan.
The city is also implementing 24 social housing projects with more than 21,200 apartments. In 2026, Da Nang aims to start construction on 7 to 9 new projects and offer for sale 6,000 to 7,000 apartments.
To maintain the city's momentum, the Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, Nguyen Manh Hung, requested that departments, agencies, and localities focus on removing bottlenecks related to procedures, land, planning, and investment to promote growth.
Mr. Hung also requested a comprehensive review of all major projects, promptly reporting any obstacles related to planning, investment policies, and implementation mechanisms for resolution. At the same time, he urged accelerating land clearance and resettlement, and reallocating funds from projects with slow disbursement rates to those with better implementation potential.
In addition, the leaders of Da Nang city also requested relevant departments to proactively work with strategic investors to resolve difficulties and accelerate project implementation; and to fully prepare disaster response plans for the upcoming rainy and stormy season.
