TKV prioritizes supplying coal for electricity production to the maximum extent.

On the morning of June 1st, the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group (TKV) held a conference on coal production and consumption scheduling for June, chaired by the Group's Deputy General Director and Director of the Production Operations Center in Quang Ninh, Nguyen Huy Nam.

In May, units within TKV proactively managed production, closely adhering to plans and market demand, maintaining stable production and business operations. Raw coal production reached 3.156 million tons, equivalent to 102% of the monthly plan, and the cumulative output for the first five months of the year reached 43.8% of the annual plan. It is projected to reach 52.3% of the annual plan by the end of June.

The volume of earth and rock excavation reached 10.393 million m³, equivalent to 92.8% of the monthly plan; the cumulative figure reached over 41% of the annual plan, and is expected to reach 54.9% of the annual plan by the end of June. Tunnel excavation work continued to be focused on by the underground mining units, with 24,600 meters of tunnels excavated reaching 102.2% of the monthly plan; it is expected to reach 51.75% of the annual plan for the first six months.

Coal consumption in the month reached 5.05 million tons, equivalent to 94.4% of the monthly plan, and the cumulative consumption for the first five months reached 44% of the annual plan. In particular, TKV focused on managing and prioritizing coal supply to power plants according to demand and signed contracts, contributing to ensuring fuel supply for electricity production, especially during the peak dry and hot season.

In addition to achieving production and business targets, the units effectively implemented activities in response to the Workers' Month and the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health in 2026; developed plans to organize activities to care for the lives of workers, promoted labor and production emulation movements, contributing to the completion of production and business tasks of the unit and the entire group. Occupational safety, environmental protection, and security and order were maintained stably.

The units strictly implemented regulations on technical management and safety in production; strengthened on-site inspections, and promptly addressed safety risks. Security and order, resource protection, and mine boundaries were basically maintained.

Notably, in May, the conveyor belt transporting coal from Ha Tu to Lang Khanh port was officially put into operation. This project contributes to improving coal transportation capacity, protecting assets, reducing reliance on trucks, enhancing production and business efficiency, and protecting the environment in the area.

At the conference, delegates focused on discussing and evaluating the difficulties and obstacles encountered in implementing the May plan, and proposed solutions to complete the coal production and consumption plan for June and subsequent months, especially in light of the approaching rainy and stormy season.

According to the June operational plan, TKV aims to produce 3.125 million tons of raw coal; excavate over 10 million cubic meters of overburden; dig 24,455 meters of tunnels; and sell 5.018 million tons of coal. Of the total coal consumed, over 4 million tons are expected to be supplied to power plants.

Speaking at the conference, the Deputy General Director of the Group and Director of the Production Management Center in Quang Ninh , Nguyen Huy Nam, acknowledged and commended the efforts of the units in fulfilling their tasks in May, which is an important prerequisite for completing the plan for June and the first six months of this year.

Mr. Nguyen Huy Nam requested that all units continue to closely follow the group's operational plan in June, focusing on safe, stable, and efficient production; strengthening technical management and flexible production operation according to actual conditions; and proactively implementing solutions to prevent and mitigate damage from storms and floods, ensuring the safety of people and equipment.

Regarding sales, Mr. Nguyen Huy Nam requested that relevant units focus their resources to the maximum extent; carry out import and blending to ensure a sufficient supply of coal to meet customer needs, especially coal for electricity production, which is a key political task of the group.

The group's leadership also noted that with the forecast of extreme and unpredictable weather, including continued heatwaves, units need to focus on and proactively implement fire and explosion prevention and environmental protection measures, while ensuring security and order, protecting assets, resources, and mine boundaries; at the same time, they need to promote a spirit of solidarity, proactiveness, and creativity, maintain production pace, and strive to complete the June plan targets; and achieve over 52% of the annual plan for the first six months of this year.
