Warning about scams and impersonations of the 'Learn to be a Police Officer' Summer Camp.

The scammers' tactic is to create fake fan pages. They set up Facebook pages with misleading names such as: "Police Academy - Young Police Officers," "Skills Summer Camp - Police Academy Semester," "Military Summer Camp Semester," etc.; and lure people into private groups on Zalo, Telegram, etc.

Information from the People's Police Academy indicates that, with the approval of the Ministry of Public Security leadership, the Academy, in coordination with the Nghe An Provincial Police and several units within and outside the police force, organized the "Learning to be a Police Officer" Summer Camp (Summer Camp). The camp took place in June and July for children and teenagers aged 8-16. However, there are currently instances of individuals creating fake fan pages to commit fraud.

Trại hè “Học làm chiến sĩ Công an” không chỉ là một chương trình giáo dục, mà còn là món quà mùa hè ý nghĩa dành cho các em học sinh do Học viện Cảnh sát nhân dân tổ chức.
The "Learning to be a Police Officer" summer camp is not only an educational program, but also a meaningful summer gift for students organized by the People's Police Academy.

The scammers' tactic is to create fake fan pages. They set up Facebook pages with misleading names such as: "Police Academy - Young Police Officers" , "Skills Summer Camp - Police Academy Semester" , "Military Summer Camp Semester" , etc.; luring victims into private groups on Zalo, Telegram, etc.

Next, the perpetrators ask parents to complete "challenges" or "tasks" for increasing amounts of money to "support the program" or "invest," then steal the money and block communication.

To avoid becoming a victim of scams, people should note the following: Verify the authenticity of the fan page. Assess the creation date and name change history of the page. Official pages of the police force usually do not have a name change history from unrelated groups. Use spam and scam call blocking apps (such as Truecaller, Hiya...) to check contact phone numbers. Actively search for the address and phone number of local police units for verification.

Additionally, remember the "3 NOs" principle: Do not follow instructions to transfer money; Do not transfer money to any individual or organization without accurately verifying the recipient's identity and location; Do not trust offers to perform tasks to earn money online.

If you would like to learn more about the official "Learn to be a Police Officer" Summer Camp program, please contact:

Major Bui Hoang Ly Ly (People's Police Academy): 0983.481.187.

Major Truong Duc Toan (Deputy Head of the Youth Department of the Nghe An Provincial Police): 0971.999.777.

The People's Police Academy also requested that victims who have been defrauded and had their property stolen should immediately report to the nearest police station for prompt assistance and guidance in resolving the issue.
