The Wealth Report 2026, Knight Frank's 20th-anniversary edition, reveals that the number of wealthy individuals worldwide has continued to grow rapidly over the past five years, despite a more volatile global environment. Between 2021 and 2026, the number of ultra-high net worth individuals globally—those with a net worth exceeding $30 million—increased from 551,435 to 713,626.

Knight Frank predicts that growth in the ultra-wealthy class over the next five years will not come solely from familiar names like the US, China, or established financial centers. Instead, rapidly developing economies such as Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Poland, and Vietnam will be prominent in terms of the growth rate of the ultra-wealthy. Vietnam, in particular, is projected to have 1,233 ultra-wealthy individuals in 2026, an increase of 279 compared to 2021. While this number is still modest, Vietnam is among the top five countries projected to have the highest growth rate of ultra-wealthy individuals in the world over the next five years.

Specifically, according to Knight Frank's predictions, over the next five years, Indonesia will lead the world in the growth of the ultra-wealthy with an 82% increase, followed by Saudi Arabia and Poland with 63% growth, and Vietnam and Australia with a 59% increase. At this rate, by 2031, Vietnam will have 1,960 ultra-wealthy individuals (owning assets exceeding $30 million). Thus, after five years, the net worth of these ultra-wealthy individuals in Vietnam will be approximately $790 billion. In parallel, besides Vietnam with a 59% growth rate, the ASEAN region also forecasts a 49% increase in the number of ultra-wealthy individuals, Singapore with a 46% increase, and Thailand with a 26% increase.

The report also shows that three regions—North America, Asia-Pacific, and Europe—continue to dominate global wealth. North America continues to lead with approximately 37% of the world's ultra-wealthy. Asia-Pacific accounts for nearly 31%, while Europe follows with over 25%. The United States remains the region with the most ultra-wealthy individuals. Over the past five years, the number of newly emerging ultra-wealthy individuals in the US accounted for 41% of the total number of new ultra-wealthy individuals worldwide. This has led to a steady increase in the share of net worth held by the US ultra-wealthy, rising from 33% in 2021 to 35% in 2026.

After the US, China is also the second-largest growing economy in the world, although its share of global net worth has slightly decreased from 18% in 2021 to 17% in 2026, and is projected to fall further to 15% in 2031. India is also one of the countries with a very rapid growth rate of ultra-wealthy individuals in recent years.

Previously, according to Forbes' 2026 list of the world's USD billionaires, Vietnam's number increased to 8, an increase of 3 compared to 2025. Pham Nhat Vuong, Chairman of Vingroup , remains at the top of the list.
