Energy sector

Today, June 2nd, the website danviet.vn reported: The newspaper Nong Thon Ngay Nay/Dan Viet organized a seminar titled "Popularizing E10 gasoline: Realizing the Net Zero commitment and national energy self-reliance".

On the morning of June 2nd, 2026, the Rural Today/Dan Viet Newspaper organized an online seminar titled "Popularizing E10 Gasoline: Realizing the Net Zero Commitment and National Energy Self-Reliance" to clarify the roadmap and issues surrounding the nationwide deployment of E10 bioethanol gasoline starting from June 1st, 2026. At the seminar, speakers including Dr. Dang Tat Thanh ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dam Hoang Phuc (Hanoi University of Science and Technology), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thi An (Vietnam Consumer Protection Association) affirmed that this is a necessary step to realize the Net Zero commitment by 2050, enhance energy security, and support the development of the domestic agricultural economy. Although E10 gasoline offers significant benefits in reducing harmful emissions, the seminar also frankly acknowledged legitimate concerns from consumers regarding engine compatibility (especially in older vehicles), fuel consumption, and worries about distribution quality. Technical and management experts addressed these concerns, affirming that most current vehicles are compatible if the correct fuel is used, and emphasizing that major distributors have prepared the necessary technical infrastructure. For the transition to be successful, speakers recommended transparency in communication, public disclosure of independent research results, establishment of vehicle inspection channels to support consumers, and strict enforcement of penalties for fraudulent business practices or the use of substandard additives. Overall, the popularization of E10 gasoline is considered a sound strategic initiative, requiring synchronization between management policies, business responsibilities, and consumer consensus and confidence through verified scientific information.

The Business Justice website published an article titled: Vietnam has its first power generation unit participating in the direct electricity trading mechanism.

On June 1, 2026, the TTC Duc Hue 2 Solar Power Plant (belonging to TTC Duc Hue Power Joint Stock Company - Long An) officially became the first power generation unit in Vietnam to participate in the Direct Power Purchase Agreement (DPPA) through the national grid. This event marks the first actual operational milestone of the DPPA mechanism, with Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen Co., Ltd. (SEVT) as the pioneering corporate customer purchasing renewable electricity from this project. The DPPA contract between the two parties is expected to supply approximately 70 GWh of solar power annually to SEVT, making a significant contribution to the goal of reducing emissions by about 46,000 tons of CO₂ annually, while promoting the sustainable energy transition and perfecting the electricity market in Vietnam.

Import and export sector

The website vnbusiness.vn published the following information: Export orders are highly diversified, Vietnamese businesses must re-evaluate their position.

Although Vietnam's manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) rose to 52.8 points in May 2026, indicating a short-term recovery, the actual export picture is highly polarized across industries and markets. Instead of competing on order volume or low prices as before, Vietnamese businesses now face significant pressure from stringent standards, supply chain transparency requirements, and quality demands from international partners. Faced with fluctuations in raw material costs, logistics, and fierce competition from rivals, businesses are forced to restructure, reposition themselves in the global value chain, and adapt flexibly instead of relying solely on low-cost advantages to maintain market share.

The online magazine Saostar reports: President Donald Trump signs executive order adjusting import tariffs on steel, aluminum, and copper.

On June 1, 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order adjusting import tariffs on certain steel, aluminum, and copper products to encourage investment and strengthen the domestic industrial base. Accordingly, tariffs on some agricultural equipment were reduced from 25% to 15%, while a 15% tariff was applied to imported mobile industrial equipment from countries with trade agreements with the U.S. Notably, foreign businesses could benefit from a preferential tariff of 10% if their equipment contained at least 85% of the steel or aluminum produced in the U.S. These regulations will be in effect until December 31, 2027, with the goal of encouraging the use of domestic materials and rebuilding domestic supply chains.

Domestic market sector

The Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper reports: Amending Decree 24 on gold trading: 'Unleashing' gold jewelry and handicrafts.

The State Bank of Vietnam is seeking feedback on a draft decree amending and supplementing Decree 24/2012 on the management of gold trading activities, with many important changes, most notably the proposal to "unleash" the gold jewelry and handicraft industry. Specifically, the agency plans to eliminate all business conditions and sub-licenses for the production, processing, and trading of gold jewelry and handicrafts, meaning this will no longer be a conditional business sector. Instead, organizations and individuals will only need to comply with current legal regulations on quality, price, tax, and anti-money laundering. In addition, the draft also adds a regulation requiring gold transactions of 20 million VND or more per day to be settled using cashless methods, while tightening management of import, export, and inventory of raw gold. Meanwhile, gold bars will continue to be strictly managed as a conditional business sector. This amended decree is expected to take effect from July 1st.

The website sggp.org.vn published the following information: More than 2,000 online stores suspected of selling counterfeit goods have been blocked on e-commerce platforms.

After nearly a month of implementing the Prime Minister's Directive No. 38/CĐ-TTg, the Department of Market Management and Development (Ministry of Industry and Trade) has achieved remarkable results in cleaning up the online business environment. Specifically, market management forces nationwide have conducted inspections, reviews, and decisively handled violations. The results show that over 9,100 products have been removed and the operations of more than 2,000 online stores showing signs of violating the law have been shut down. The violations mainly focused on the trading of counterfeit and substandard goods, as well as serious infringements of intellectual property rights on e-commerce platforms, contributing to protecting consumer rights and creating a healthier competitive environment.
