Striker Hai Yen: 'This is my last SEA Games'

Striker Pham Hai Yen hinted that the 33rd SEA Games could be her last regional sports event.

On the evening of December 4, the Vietnamese women's team had their last training session before the opening match of the 33rd SEA Games against Malaysia tomorrow. Striker Pham Hai Yen was the representative player of the Vietnamese women's team to answer the media at the training session.

The players of Hanoi 1 Club appeared quite relaxed and confident before the pivotal match: "Tomorrow is also Vietnam's first match at SEA Games 33. The whole team is very determined to have a successful opening match.

Vietnamese people often say 'a good start makes a good ending', so the whole team has the concept of having the highest determination. The young players are very active and focused to win, and at the same time, further aiming for a gold medal."

The striker born in 1994 also talked about some future plans: “This is my 5th SEA Games. I feel that I am no longer young and this is almost the last SEA Games. I will try my best with my teammates to make the best mark in my career.”

She also highly appreciated the young players at SEA Games 33: “This year the team created opportunities for many young players. During the training sessions, they performed well and integrated quickly so that the coach could come up with optimal tactics.”

Coach Mai Duc Chung's team will have their opening match against Malaysia at 6:30 p.m. on December 5.
