The Vietnam Volleyball Federation has decided to offer a reward of 1 billion VND if the men's and women's volleyball teams win the gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand. Winning a silver medal will result in a bonus of 200 million VND for both teams. For beach volleyball, the bonus is 50 million VND for any medal and 200 million VND for a gold medal.
This is an encouragement for the indoor and beach volleyball teams before the expected fierce competition at the 33rd SEA Games.
At the previous SEA Games in Cambodia, the women's volleyball team (indoor) won silver and the men's team got bronze. In addition, the women's beach volleyball team won bronze.

Among the above teams, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has a very clear chance to compete for the gold medal, even without the main hitter Bich Tuyen. In order to reduce the pressure on coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team, the Department of Sports and Physical Training recently re-registered the team's target as a silver medal instead of a gold medal like at the beginning of the year. However, Thanh Thuy and her teammates have never had the confidence and desire to overthrow Thailand's dominance like in this SEA Games.
The Vietnamese women's volleyball team left for Thailand to conquer the 33rd SEA Games on December 8. Before the departure, the women's team's roster changed when veteran middle blocker Nguyen Thi Trinh withdrew due to health issues, and was replaced by 20-year-old Le Nhu Anh.
According to the match schedule, Thanh Thuy and her teammates will meet Myanmar in the opening match at 3:00 p.m. on December 10, then meet Malaysia (12:30 p.m. on December 11), and meet Indonesia (12:30 p.m. on December 12).
