Implementing Decision No. 524/QD-TTg dated April 1, 2021 of the Prime Minister approving the Project " Planting one billion trees in the period of 2021-2025", over the past 5 years, ministries, localities, organizations and individuals in the whole society have actively organized and implemented it.

After 5 years, the whole country has planted more than 1.4 billion trees, reaching 143.9% of the project's goals and tasks. Of which, scattered trees were planted: 573.9 million trees; concentrated forests were planted: 865.2 million trees, equivalent to 429,125 hectares of forest.

Some localities have achieved high results in planting trees such as: Phu Tho, Lao Cai, An Giang , Lang Son, Lam Dong, Tay Ninh, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Nghe An, Da Nang...

Through the movement to launch and socialize tree planting and afforestation, many provinces, cities, ministries and branches have good practices and creative activities in implementing the Project.

Typical examples include: Project "Planting shelter trees, shade trees and growing vegetables in Truong Sa archipelago"; "Second journey of the county" contest, "Green commitment" campaign, "Living green with you" challenge, and digital map " For a green Vietnam " of the Central Youth Union; "Tree planting fund" of Quang Ngai province; Project "Planting and Restoring the Gianh River upstream forest"...

According to reports from ministries, branches and localities, the total capital to implement the Project in the period of 2021-2025 is 15,291 billion VND. Particularly, the capital mobilized from socialization is more than 7,011 billion VND. This is a very positive result, demonstrating the interest and response of the whole society to tree planting and afforestation.

Deputy Director of the Department of Forestry and Forest Protection (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) Trieu Van Luc assessed that the tree planting and forestation movement has become a traditional cultural beauty of the people, helping to maintain a stable forest cover rate of about 42%.

To continue to maintain and further promote the work of protecting and developing forests, planting trees to protect the environment, and improving the landscape, the Deputy Director requested that localities, agencies, and units continue to do a good job of propaganda, maintain, and organize the tree planting movement following Uncle Ho's teachings.

At the same time, organizations and individuals across the country continue to join hands and contribute to planting trees, afforestation, and protecting forests and greenery. Especially planting large timber forests and high-value native trees, increasing the value of planted forests; promoting the effectiveness of ecological environmental protection, forest carbon sequestration, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
