Bach Ma National Park recognized as ASEAN Heritage Park

Bach Ma National Park (Hue City) has just been officially recognized as an ASEAN Heritage Park along with four other national parks and reserves of Vietnam.

On the morning of December 5, Mr. Nguyen Vu Linh, Director of Bach Ma National Park , said the park had just been recognized as an ASEAN Heritage Park.

The certificate was just awarded at the 8th ASEAN Heritage Gardens Conference held in Ha Long (Quang Ninh).

The conference, co-organized by the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Vietnam, brought together national park managers, conservation experts and international organizations to promote regional cooperation in biodiversity conservation. The event received support from the European Union and the German Government .

With the theme "ASEAN Heritage Sites: ASEAN's Contribution to the Implementation of the Biodiversity Plan", the conference focused on discussing nature-based solutions, enhancing resilience to climate change, sustainable resource management and local community participation in conservation.

The conference includes plenary sessions, technical discussions, exhibitions and field trips to showcase effective models in protected area management and ecosystem restoration.

At the ceremony, ACB and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment awarded ASEAN Heritage Park certificates to five areas in Vietnam, including: Xuan Thuy National Park (Ninh Binh), Pu Mat National Park (Nghe An), Bach Ma National Park (Hue City), Con Dao National Park (Ho Chi Minh City) and Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve.
