Vietnam hosts the 8th ASEAN Heritage Gardens Conference

Vietnam hosted the 8th ASEAN Heritage Gardens Conference, gathering more than 320 delegates, affirming its role in regional nature conservation cooperation.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in coordination with the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province, is urgently completing the final stages to prepare for the 8th ASEAN Heritage Gardens Conference (AHP8), scheduled to take place from December 2-5, 2025 in Bai Chay ward. This is an important international event on nature conservation and biodiversity, gathering more than 320 domestic and international delegates.

According to the progress report of the Department of Nature Conservation and Biodiversity, the AHP8 Conference will be held at Muong Thanh Luxury Quang Ninh Hotel, with the participation of representatives of the ASEAN Secretariat, the ASEAN Biodiversity Center, international organizations such as the EU, UNDP, FAO, TAF-GTEI and representatives of 54 Heritage Parks of ASEAN countries. Vietnam will have representatives of 15 ASEAN Heritage Parks, including 5 newly recognized areas in the period 2022 - 2025.

The four-day conference included an opening session, exhibition of heritage gardens, thematic sessions, the awarding ceremony of ASEAN Heritage Gardens and field trips to Ha Long Bay - Yen Tu and Bai Tu Long Heritage Gardens. Each country was allocated a 6m² exhibition booth, while Vietnam and the ASEAN Biodiversity Centre had a 27m² exhibition area.

Up to now, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has issued a plan, established an Organizing Committee, sent invitations to ASEAN countries and international organizations; and coordinated with the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province to survey the location and agree on a logistics plan to serve the international delegation. The People's Committee of Quang Ninh province has also approved a plan to coordinate the organization and prepare conditions for security, accommodation, and transportation.

In the next preparation phase, the units will complete the script for the certificate awarding ceremony, art program, list of delegates, product display activities at the Vietnam booth, while ensuring entry procedures and safety for the entire event.

The AHP8 Conference is expected to promote regional cooperation in nature conservation, enhance Vietnam's position in the field of biodiversity, and promote the image of Quang Ninh - a green tourism destination of ASEAN.
