Affirming the core role in national geological research
MSc. Tran Huynh - Deputy Head of the Central Central Geological Federation (Vietnam Geology and Minerals Department) said: The Federation was established in the context of the country's reunification and the geological sector entering a new phase with many important tasks. From the early days of hardship, lack of technical conditions, and a small staff, generations of geologists through the ages have not feared danger, crossed forests and streams, and devoted much effort, intelligence and enthusiasm to build the image of a united, creative and sustainably developing Federation.

Up to now, the Federation has successfully completed many tasks such as: Basic geological survey of minerals; implementing projects to evaluate the potential of many important minerals such as bauxite, titanium sand, gold, copper, tin, industrial minerals, paving stones, etc.; providing scientific database for planning and socio- economic development for the South Central and Central Highlands regions; contributing to affirming its important role in the cause of national construction and development.
The workshop was attended by leading scientists and experienced experts in the fields of regional geology, metallic minerals, bulk rocks and industrial minerals.
In which, Prof. Dr. Tran Van Tri outlined the main content of the Geological Map, Geological Resources of Vietnam and adjacent sea areas with a new explanatory book, providing a basic scientific picture of Vietnam's geology - from the ancient Archean, Paleoproterozoic to young Cenozoic sediments. Detailed analyses of stratigraphy, magma, tectonics, metallic and non-metallic mineral systems, energy resources, water and geological heritage create an important scientific framework for research, mapping and assessment of mineral potential.

Professor Tri emphasized that the new geological mapping system, combining modern data from the period 1995-2024, has allowed for a clearer identification of mineral distribution laws, large structural zones and resource potential of each area, which is a scientific basis for sustainable exploitation planning and ensuring national resource security.
Many new discoveries about minerals in the Central Central region
Introducing an overview of the minerals in the Central Central region, MSc. Nguyen Manh Hai - Acting Head of the Technical Department, the Central Central Geological Federation said that this region stretches from Da Nang to Binh Thuan (formerly) and up to the Central Highlands provinces, where large geological structures converge such as the Kon Tum metamorphic zone, the Truong Son orogenic zone, the Central Highlands basalt dome... creating conditions for the formation of an extremely diverse mineral system. The Central Central region has all mineral groups: energy, metals, industrial minerals, precious and semi-precious stones, paving stones, mineral water - hot water and geological heritage.
Notably, the Central Central region has many large-scale minerals in the country and the world, typically: bauxite ore with total resources and reserves of up to 9.2 billion tons of raw ore, distributed in the areas of Kon Plong - Kon Ha Nung, Dak Nong, Lam Dong, Phuoc Long and scattered from Quang Ngai to Phu Yen.

Titanium - zircon is an outstanding advantage, especially in the red sand strip of Ninh Thuan - Binh Thuan - Vung Tau, with resources of over 550 million tons.
Tin (Sn) - tungsten (W), with 78 mines and ore points, resources, forecast reserves of over 140,000 tons of Sn and 30,000 tons of WO₃.
Lithium at La Vi mine (Quang Ngai) is a discovery of strategic value, with 1.34 million tons of ore containing about 7,200 tons of Li₂O.

“These figures show that the Central Central region has great potential to develop the mining industry, deep processing and supply strategic raw materials for many new industries,” emphasized MSc. Nguyen Manh Hai.
The workshop also acknowledged the contributions of important presentations such as: New findings of the project "Overall assessment of the potential of metal minerals in the Central Central region"; the project "Overall assessment of the potential of stone blocks for cladding in the Central Central region" and the project "Overall assessment of the potential of industrial minerals in the Central Central region".

Deputy Federation President Tran Huynh believes that the Workshop is a useful forum to discuss more clearly about professional issues and open up new directions for geological research in the coming time. The results of the workshop will certainly contribute significantly to the Federation's development strategy in the new period - the period of innovation, integration and sustainable development.
