During the "Food and Agriculture Day" at COP30, the Partnership for Sustainable Food and Agriculture Systems Transformation (FAST) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) co-organized a Ministerial session on "Advancing Solutions for Resilient Agri-Food Systems".

The session aimed to share the CCAC Agriculture Programme 2026 - 2028, launch the "Sustainable Agricultural Investments Towards Zero Land Degradation" (RAIZ) initiative to provide important practical solutions to address pressing challenges in agriculture and land use for farming. In addition, the event also aimed to highlight farmer-centered solutions as the foundation for food system transformation efforts, ensuring local and inclusive implementation.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Kaveh Zahedi - Director of the FAO Office of Climate Change, Biodiversity and Environment - emphasized that agri-food systems are one of the contents of climate action, but tapping this potential requires practical, scalable solutions and adequate financial resources. He emphasized that one of the tasks of the FAST Partnership is to help countries access financial resources and welcomed the collaboration with CCAC to promote action through specific programs and initiatives.
In her keynote address, Mary Creagh, UK Minister for Nature and Co-Chair of CCAC, highlighted the UK’s efforts to accelerate research into science- based agri-food solutions that increase farm productivity and sustainability. Ms Creagh also highlighted the UK-Brazil Joint Declaration on Fertilisers to Boost Food Security and Reduce Waste. She called on other parties to support the Declaration to accelerate action in this area, because “feeding the world should not come at the expense of the Earth”.

In his speech, Mr. Le Ngoc Tuan - Deputy Director of the Department of Climate Change, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment proposed solutions to replicate practical models, suitable for each agro-food system. First, countries need to expand farmer-centered climate finance instruments, which can replicate blended finance models, for sustainable rice systems, results-based payments for land restoration and credit programs for smallholder farmers and cooperatives.
In addition, strengthening regional cooperation and South-South cooperation: FAST should continue to support regional platforms for exchanging practices, supporting digital agri-food systems to provide information and market linkages. Partners, initiatives of CCAC, FAST, RAIZ and Harmoniya need to work closely to create a common strength in transforming agri-food systems.
The meeting attracted the participation of nearly 30 Ministers, Deputy Ministers and Heads of technical delegations from participating countries.
Accordingly, the countries discussed expanding multilateral cooperation, paying attention to adaptation and recovery; research and technology development, and sharing through international cooperation; improving the quantity and quality of climate finance while minimizing risks; diversifying and allocating finance in a comprehensive manner; applying farmer-centered approaches; preventing deforestation and promoting reforestation.
For agricultural production, delegates agreed on the need to improve the efficiency and accuracy of fertilization; expand public-private partnerships to benefit smallholder farmers; provide farmers with practical support to adopt sustainable practices to boost profitability and resilience; diversify food production while protecting biodiversity and reducing emissions.
