The house of Mr. Huynh Trung Thoai (86 years old, My Trung village, Hoa Thinh commune) was devastated after the flood reached the roof.
On November 22, the flood receded, revealing a scene of devastation in Hoa Thinh commune, Dak Lak province (Tay Hoa district, former Phu Yen province). From the beginning of the village to the end of the alley, whenever someone asked "flood?", the villagers immediately gathered to tell their stories. The stories had no beginning or end, but the horror of the historic flood.
Devastated after the historic flood
At the beginning of Hoa Thinh commune, the fierceness was present when the road into the commune was splashed, the roadbed was "thrown" into the fields by the flood, revealing deep holes.
A resident's car that could not "escape" was submerged by the flood, the two front wheels were on the road, the two rear wheels fell into the hole.
The deeper into the commune, the more terrifying the scene.
The most haunting are the coffins left at the village cultural house, "ready" to take the unfortunate to the distant world.
Along with that, the cow carcasses were transported by trucks and cranes of the authorities to be buried to avoid environmental pollution.
Clothes and belongings were soaked and thrown all over the village. Somewhere in the middle of the field was a refrigerator and a television mixed in the mud.
Seeing the volunteer group coming to help, many people rushed out and asked, "Do you have any clothes? Please give me something to wear because it's so cold and my clothes are all wet."

Hundreds of kilograms of rice of Mr. Thoai and his wife were swept away by the flood, only a few remained submerged in the flood water.
Mr. Huynh Van Chinh (52 years old, My Trung village) shuddered when recounting the scene of 5 people in his family escaping death. At 9 pm on November 18, the water was still in the field, he shined his flashlight to see and confidently entered the house, thinking "the flood, no matter how big, will be as big as in 1993".
Mr. Chinh then pointed to the window of his parents' house, the historic flood of 1993 in Hoa Thinh, the water rose to the edge of the door. "Who would have thought, at 10 o'clock I saw the flood in the yard, and from there it grew without stopping. The "flood tree" grew rapidly. I took my parents to the neighbor's house for shelter. When it came out the water was up to their waists, and when they reached the neighbor's house (50 meters away) the water was up to their chests. It grew incredibly fast," Mr. Chinh said.
The peak was at 2am on November 19, despite the heavy rain, the cries for help echoed throughout the village, drowning out the sound of the rain. Mr. Chinh said that if it weren't for Mrs. Truc's attic, his family would have a hard time surviving. After the flood, the attic where Mrs. Truc worshiped her relatives saved a total of 26 lives.
After the flood, the whole village of My Trung had no rice left, because "every house was flooded". Mr. Chinh took the rice out to dry and said "let's save the dry rice for the chickens to eat, no one can eat it, it's all spoiled".

Mourning in every village in Hoa Thinh
The most painful were the families of those whose loved ones had died in the flood. They spoke little, silently looking at the fields that stretched out. The villagers patted their shoulders and encouraged them. But the pain did not subside, their eyes held a deep meaning.
Mr. Lam Su Thang sat quietly on the porch waiting for the coffin to bury his father, Mr. Lam Dao Sanh. Mr. Thang said that when the flood receded, he returned to his parents' house and discovered that Mr. Sanh had been crushed by a cupboard and drowned in the water.
"I heard from my mother that on November 20, the water receded to his waist. When my father stepped down, a cupboard fell on him. Now we're waiting for the coffin, but it's still not here. I don't know if there's a coffin to bury him in. The funeral service here can't handle it," said Mr. Thang.

Two coffins were brought to the house for the burial of Mr. Nghiep and his wife in Phu Huu village, Hoa Thinh commune.
Visiting Phu Huu village, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang was taking care of his parents' funeral. With a bewildered face, Mr. Thang said: "My house is on the other side of the field, about 100m away. But the flood came, and I couldn't get over in time to save my parents. This flood is so terrible."
Mr. Nguyen Van Tien, a funeral service worker in Hoa Thinh commune, was busy burying Mr. Thang's parents. The list of people who died in this flood and have been calling for help is still long.
Mr. Tien kept answering the phone, his voice tired: "My family has been doing funeral services for decades in Hoa Thinh, but we have never seen a tragedy like this. Yesterday we did 13 funerals, today we have done 9 funerals. I don't know if there will be more, I hope it stops, it's too much."
While talking, the phone rang. Mr. Tien reached into his pocket and said: "What's going on? Is there more?"

Mr. Nguyen Van Thang grieved over the death of his parents.
