Do Anh Tuan, born in 2006, a student at Hanoi Law University, is a San Chi native in Thai Nguyen. Since childhood, Tuan has followed his parents to pick tea and help with farm work. His life with tea plants has helped Tuan understand the hardships and difficulties of his family.
At that time, Tuan began to nurture the will to study hard to change his life, to escape the cycle of climbing the hills day by day. “Only knowledge is the only key to change fate,” Tuan said.
Even though they are farmers, Tuan's parents always guide their children to study hard to have the opportunity to step out into the big world .
Studying at Thai Nguyen Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, in grade 10, Tuan won two provincial prizes for excellent student in Literature and third prize in the Science and Technology competition.
In grade 11, Tuan won the provincial excellent student award in History, third prize in the provincial Science and Technology competition, and first prize in the Thai Nguyen Provincial Young Creativity Award. In grade 12, Tuan continued to win the provincial excellent student award in History.
In the 2024 high school graduation exam, Anh Tuan scored 29 points, becoming the valedictorian of block C in the entire Thai Nguyen province. Thanks to these achievements, the male student was honored at the 2024 National Ceremony to Commend Outstanding Ethnic Minority Students, College Students, and Youth.

After that, Tuan chose to study at Hanoi Law University. Explaining this choice, Tuan said that since high school, he had noticed many legal problems that caused difficulties for his fellow countrymen. Therefore, he wanted to gain more legal knowledge, contribute to changing thinking and awareness as well as helping his fellow countrymen in solving legal problems.
Having a clear goal, Anh Tuan studied proactively and disciplined when entering university. “I think studying is not a battle. With a clear goal, I will focus and make efforts to achieve the highest efficiency,” Tuan said.
In class, Tuan actively listens to lectures instead of taking too many notes. The male student said that there is a lot of knowledge in class, and teachers often go through it very quickly to cover all the content that needs to be conveyed. Therefore, if students do not concentrate, they can easily miss important knowledge.
At home, Tuan rereads the textbook, studies in groups to synthesize and expand knowledge with his friends.
“Having a group to support each other is very important because you will supplement the knowledge you lack. In addition, I often volunteer to be the group leader in exercises to have the opportunity to understand the subject content more deeply,” Tuan said.

Being recognized as a national outstanding ethnic minority student is also the motivation that urges San Chi to always strive to study to be worthy of everyone's expectations.
During his first year at the Law School, Anh Tuan consistently achieved excellent academic results and excellent training scores. The male student also actively participated in the school's professional clubs and was a member of the board of directors of the "Community of 54 Vietnamese Ethnic Groups" - a project that shares information about ethnic minorities in Vietnam on social networks.
This has helped Tuan spread the unique cultural features of his people, understand more about the cultures of other ethnic groups, and help ethnic minorities have a voice in the community.
Tuan said that since high school, he has participated in two scientific studies, both related to the preservation and promotion of ethnic minority cultural identity, including the preservation of San Chay ethnic culture through the Tac Xinh dance and through traditional costumes and language.
In college, Tuan continued to carry out a research project related to legal information for ethnic minorities. The project aimed to narrow the legal gap, helping people access legal information more clearly.

For Tuan, being an ethnic minority is not something that makes him afraid. For him, each ethnic group has its own customs and diverse culture - that is the foundation, the "leverage" to help him develop further.
“There is no reason to feel inferior because you are an ethnic minority. Anyone can rise up, as long as you persevere, constantly learn, and overcome your inferiority complex - the barrier that prevents you from stepping out into the world,” Tuan said.
In the near future, Tuan aims to complete his bachelor’s degree and take the bar exam. Further, he hopes to return to his homeland to help people resolve legal issues properly and transparently, while raising legal awareness in ethnic minority communities.
“Knowledge plays an important role in changing our destiny. With knowledge, we will have more new opportunities, change our thinking, and broaden our vision. That is also the basis for building and contributing more to our homeland, preserving the identity and cultural beauty of our nation,” Anh Tuan shared.
