Efforts to revive traditional markets amid the wave of modern retail

Traditional markets in the eastern part of Ho Chi Minh City are in a slump, with more than 50% of small traders abandoning their stalls in many places due to their inability to compete with supermarkets, convenience stores and online shopping. In the context of strong changes in consumer habits, the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City has implemented many solutions such as developing markets that adapt to digital transformation, building safe food chains and online market models to support traditional markets to recover and maintain operations.

From May to October of the lunar calendar, fishermen along the coast of Vung Tau - Long Hai enter the bustling season of catching herring and anchovies. Every early morning, boats full of fish arrive at the shore, bringing a vibrant working atmosphere and a stable source of income for the people. With the advantage of fishing close to shore and low costs, herring and anchovies become an important livelihood, helping many fishermen earn from several hundred thousand to several million VND per day.

Nearly 200 projects were started and inaugurated nationwide on December 19.

On December 19, the Government will hold an online groundbreaking and inauguration ceremony for nearly 200 projects and works nationwide to celebrate the 79th anniversary of National Resistance Day and the 14th National Party Congress. The total investment capital is about VND980,000 billion, with the participation of many ministries, branches, localities and large corporations. Ho Chi Minh City alone will deploy a series of key projects such as Ring Road 2, Ring Road 3 and important traffic connecting routes, contributing to promoting infrastructure development and socio-economic growth.
