Woman selling vegetables carries full load of relief goods to send to people in Central Vietnam

On the afternoon of November 23, the relief goods collection point for the Central region people affected by floods on Tay Son Street, old Tan Phu District, was crowded with people coming to send and receive goods. Dozens of people were on duty on the spot, helping to carry and carry goods, sort and fold clothes.
Mr. Ho Phuc (37 years old) excitedly said: “These past few days, I have been here to help receive goods, load them onto trucks to be transported to the Central region. There is a lot of work, when I am too tired, I fall asleep, when I wake up I continue working. Tired, but very happy.”
Army and people united
According to Dan Tri reporter , the gathering point on Tay Son street had a lot of people and fire police force participating in support. Everyone divided the work appropriately, the elderly women folded clothes, the young men carried water barrels and other necessities. The atmosphere was bustling, everyone was busy with "nameless" work.
Captain Nguyen Van Ngan, an officer of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of Region 13, Ho Chi Minh City, said that in recent days, the unit has sent about 10 officers and soldiers to support this goods gathering point.
The soldiers and the people worked together, passing boxes of goods and necessities onto trucks to support people in flood-hit areas. Captain Ngan said that on the evening of November 23 alone, the unit gathered about 15 tons of goods, loaded them onto trucks and transported them to provinces severely affected by natural disasters, and delivered them directly to the people.
Weaving through the bustling crowd, Mrs. Thu (42 years old, living in Ho Chi Minh City) drove a pedicab, carrying a full load of goods to the gathering point. Seeing a skinny woman driving a pedicab - a vehicle only used by strong men - many people exclaimed in admiration.

Ms. Thu said she sells vegetables at the old market in District 5. In recent days, seeing images and clips of people in the Central region suffering from floods, losing their homes, property and even their lives, the woman could not contain her emotions.
“I mobilized some women in the market, and then everyone around, to collect instant noodles, clothes, and blankets. This is the first trip, I will continue to call for donations to transport to support people in the Central region,” Ms. Thu shared.
No money then contribute
At 3:35 p.m. on November 23, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy (44 years old, from Binh Dinh) temporarily stopped folding clothes to have "lunch". The meal was bought and prepared by everyone at the gathering point for those who were hungry.
Ms. Thuy said she sells lottery tickets and supports her two children in school. Her hometown also had heavy rains, flooding houses, but the damage was not significant. Seeing the people in the Central region struggling with floods, she was unable to share her feelings because she was “powerless”.

By chance, on the morning of November 23, Ms. Thuy passed by this area and saw many people gathered to help load and unload goods for people in the flooded areas. She quickly ran to sell all the lottery tickets so she could come back to help.
“Normally, I finish selling until 2-3 pm, but today I sold very quickly to help people fold clothes. If I don’t have money, I can contribute a little effort, I am very happy,” Ms. Thuy shared.

According to Ms. Thuy, at around 11pm, a big truck will arrive to transport goods to the Central region. Seeing that the work of folding clothes has lessened, she plans to return at 6pm, sell lottery tickets for about 2 hours, then come back and help everyone load the goods.
At this gathering place, there are many stories like Mrs. Thuy's. They are workers, laborers, students, pupils from all over the place who came here. They do not know each other, but they all have the same heart for the people of Central Vietnam, which has been severely devastated by floods.
Boxes of instant noodles, milk, water, sausages, etc. were continuously brought in, making the hundreds of square meter warehouse gradually full, with the goods piled up like mountains. With the current situation, if the trucks were not transported away in time, the warehouse would have no more space to store them.

Knowing the urgency of the situation, many philanthropists mobilized all available means of transport. When the heavy trucks arrived, the people were happy and cheered as if they had found gold.
“The warehouse contains dozens of tons of food, while people in the Central region are starving, everyone is very sad. Fortunately, more vehicles have arrived to transport the goods, please wait for us,” Minh Dang said.
