Record number of athletes participating in the 2025 Ha Long Heritage International Marathon

On November 23, the Halong Bay Heritage International Marathon 2025 took place in Quang Ninh, attracting a record of about 15,000 athletes, including over 3,100 international athletes from 45 countries.

The 2025 Ha Long Heritage International Marathon is organized with the dual goal of stimulating tourism in 2025 and promoting the sports movement. The event has become a prestigious brand when it was awarded the World Label by World Athletics, affirming the position of Quang Ninh sports on the international marathon map.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh province, said that the number of athletes is a testament to the attraction, trust and affection that international friends have for Quang Ninh. The province hopes that the organizing unit will continue to expand the system of running races, aiming to have at least one quality race each quarter to contribute to the development of sports tourism.

The race was held on the beautiful Ha Long - Cam Pha coastal route, with four distances: 42km, 21km, 10km and 5km. Athletes started on Tran Quoc Nghien Street and finished at 30/10 Street - Provincial Planning, Fair and Exhibition Palace.

The 2025 Ha Long Heritage International Marathon continues to witness outstanding achievements from professional runners from Kenya. In the men's Marathon (42km), athlete Kennedy Kiprop Chelimo (Kenya) excellently finished with an impressive time of 2 hours 13 minutes 57 seconds, while female athlete Caroline Jepkemei Kimosop (Kenya) won with a time of 2 hours 43 minutes 26 seconds. Both achievements meet international standards, affirming the professional quality of the tournament.

In the half marathon (21km), male athlete Edwin Yebei Kiptoo (Kenya) also finished first with a time of 1 hour 11 minutes 23 seconds. The pride of the host country belonged to athlete Doan Thi Oanh (Vietnam) in the women's 21km, with a time of 1 hour 19 minutes 53 seconds, continuing to affirm her position as one of the top athletes in the country.

Sharing after completing the race, athlete Pham Thi Hong Le, the Vietnamese female athlete who finished first in the 42km distance and won third place overall in this distance, said: "In this race, my finishing time was shorter than the two previous seasons in Ha Long. I was very impressed with the weather as well as the beautiful scenery of the race route. I will always try my best to achieve the highest results."
