On the afternoon of November 24, U.17 Malaysia met U.17 Hong Kong, in the second match of Group C of the 2026 AFC U-17 Championship qualifiers. Previously, in the opening match, Malaysia beat the Northern Mariana Islands 13-0, while Hong Kong defeated Macau 2-0.
U.17 Malaysia deadlocked in the first half
U.17 Malaysia had an easy win in the opening match, but immediately “returned to the competition” when facing U.17 Hong Kong. The team nicknamed “the tigers” entered the match confidently, deploying the ball at speed towards the opponent’s goal. U.17 Malaysia created quite clear opportunities, but failed to take advantage of them.
After getting into the rhythm, U.17 Hong Kong created a balanced game, even outperforming their opponents in many attacks. However, U.17 Hong Kong's weakness was the final stage, when decisive passes or finishing were too inaccurate.

The most dangerous situation in the first half belonged to U.17 Malaysia. In the 25th minute, Arrayyan Hakeem had a chance to face the Hong Kong goalkeeper, but could not put the ball into the opponent's net.
In the second half, U.17 Hong Kong played better and better, showing dominance over their opponents. However, U.17 Malaysia was the team to score a goal to break the deadlock. In the 65th minute, from a chaotic situation in the penalty area, Hong Kong players did not clear the ball decisively, creating an opportunity for Iman Danish to shoot from close range to put U.17 Malaysia ahead 1-0. This was also the only goal of the match.
Thus, after 2 matches, U.17 Malaysia has 6 absolute points (goal difference +14) and is still ranked first in group C. Meanwhile, U.17 Vietnam is ranked second in the group with 3 points and goal difference +6, but has not played in the second match (against Northern Mariana Islands) at 7:00 p.m. tonight, November 24.
