
At the 33rd SEA Games, wushu consists of 14 events, including 10 sanda (combat) events and 7 taolu (performance) events. At the 32nd SEA Games, the Vietnamese Wushu team won gold on the first day of competition. In the end, we ranked 2nd overall with 6 gold medals.

The Vietnamese Wushu team has been very well prepared for the 33rd SEA Games when they won two gold medals at the 2025 World Wushu Championship in Brazil in September. Last year, the team also won four gold medals at the 2024 World Tai Chi Championship.

According to assessments, SEA Games 33 brings together many of the world's top wushu martial artists, and countries also have strong investments while many events have been cut, so the medal competition will be extremely fierce.

Based on the context and actual situation, Head Coach of the Vietnam Wushu Team Nguyen Van Chuong said that the team aims to win 2 to 3 gold medals at the 33rd SEA Games, as well as strive to achieve the highest results in the participating events.

Coming to the Congress in Thailand, the Vietnamese Wushu team consists of 14 members, with 10 competing in the performance category and 4 in the combat category.





With a huge record of achievements including Gold medals at the World Wushu Championship, World Games , ASIAD and 7 Gold medals at the SEA Games, Duong Thuy Vi continues to be the name expected to bring glory to the Vietnamese Sports Delegation.

Sharing with Tien Phong newspaper reporter , Thuy Vi said she is in the best condition both physically and mentally, confident in her goal of completing the competition well.

To help the players have the best preparation, in addition to experienced coaches, the Vietnamese Wushu team also has the accompaniment of leading Chinese experts.

During the training and practice process, experts and coaches pay attention to every smallest detail, correcting every movement, body technique, eye contact, and demeanor of the athletes.

In performance, wushu requires flexibility and high artistry but also strength and decisiveness.




Besides, athletes must also demonstrate charisma, spirit and confidence.

Currently, the wushu team is in a stabilization phase after a period of intense training, to prepare the best physical and mental strength.

Duong Thuy Vi shared that she and her teammates are currently mentally ready for the challenges at SEA Games 33.

"Like previous SEA Games, we always uphold our determination, limit all mistakes and complete the competition with the best scores, contributing to the success of the Vietnamese sports delegation," she affirmed.
