Also attending the talks on the Vietnamese side were representatives of units under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (Department of Foreign Market Development, Trade Promotion Agency, Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, Electricity Department, Import-Export Department, Department of Industry), the Vietnamese Consulate General in Nanning (Guangxi), representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Northeast Asia Department) and representatives of the Department of Industry and Trade of 04 northern provinces sharing a border with Guangxi including Quang Ninh, Tuyen Quang, Lang Son, Cao Bang.
On the Chinese side, there was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Vietnam Ha Vi, representatives of leaders of departments, branches and localities of Guangxi such as the Government Office, Department of Commerce, Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Transport, Department of Industry and Information Technology, Department of Culture and Tourism , Fangchenggang, Chongzuo, Baise cities and representatives of important state-owned enterprises in Guangxi.

During the talks, the two leaders exchanged and discussed many orientations and solutions to promote cooperative relations between Vietnam and Guangxi province, China.
Minister Nguyen Hong Dien congratulated Comrade Vi Thao on being approved by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China to hold the position of Chairman of the People's Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in July and being added to the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China at the end of October; he expressed his belief that under the leadership of Comrade Vi Thao, Guangxi will continue to promote its pioneering role in promoting the traditional, substantive and sustainable friendly cooperation between Vietnam and China in general and between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and Guangxi in particular.
Minister Nguyen Hong Dien highly appreciated the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and China in general and the development cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Guangxi province (China) in particular.
Affirming that the Ministry of Industry and Trade always attaches importance to building and developing cooperative relations with the Party Committee and Government of Guangxi, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien highly appreciated the significance of the working trip to Vietnam this time of Chairman Vi Thao and the delegation of agencies and many enterprises of Guangxi, thereby demonstrating the importance of the Party Committee and Government of Guangxi to economic and trade cooperation relations with Vietnam.
Comrade Vi Thao, Chairman of the People's Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, also emphasized that Vietnam is one of the important partners of Guangxi province.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Vi Thao expressed his impression of the socio-economic achievements that Vietnam has achieved in recent times; and was pleased to see that the economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Guangxi has been constantly developing. Comrade Vi Thao affirmed that Guangxi always attaches special importance to economic and trade cooperation with Vietnam, and hopes to effectively implement the common perception of the two countries' senior leaders through the meeting; promote key cooperation items into practice, contributing to the joint construction of the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.
In order to strengthen the economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Guangxi, Chairman Vi Thao proposed a number of contents such as: (i) facilitating customs clearance activities at border gates, urging Lang Son province to soon identify the unit to implement the construction of smart border gates and soon complete the construction of smart border gates, soon achieve the connection of projects between the two sides and put them into official operation; (ii) speed up the research on new models of cross-border economic cooperation zones; (iii) coordinate to implement a variety of trade promotion activities; (iv) strengthen cooperation in emerging fields such as electronics, textiles, new energy, new materials, food processing, etc.
Minister Nguyen Hong Dien expressed his high agreement with the opinions of Comrade Vi Thao, and at the same time added new orientations and contents to further deepen the economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Guangxi in particular, and China in general; towards the goal of expanding the scale and gradually balancing the Vietnam-China trade balance.
Some specific solutions include: (i) urging the Chinese Central Ministries and Branches to promptly issue revised regulations on the management of border residents' goods exchange activities, creating stability as well as minimizing risks in the transaction process of businesses and goods owners on both sides; (ii) coordinating the organization of business delegations and purchasing delegations to attend large-scale fairs in Vietnam; (iii) strengthening cooperation in connecting Vietnam - Guangxi electricity and (iv) coordinating the development of a list of key tasks for 2026 to implement the Action Plan 2024-2026.
After the talks, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien and Chairman Vi Thao attended and spoke at the Vietnam - China (Guangxi) Investment, Trade and Business Connection Conference co-organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Guangxi Government.
| According to statistics from China Customs, in the first 10 months of 2025, the import-export turnover between Vietnam and Guangxi reached 35.7 billion USD, an increase of 7.44%, of which Guangxi's exports to Vietnam reached 29.5 billion USD, an increase of 12.13%, and Guangxi's imports from Vietnam reached 6.2 billion USD, a decrease of 10.5%. The import-export turnover through land border gates between Vietnam and Guangxi accounts for over 95% of the total turnover of goods exchanged through land border gates between Vietnam and China . |
