The Vietnamese Wushu team has just concluded an impressive journey at the 2025 Asian Wushu Cup held in China, winning 2 gold medals, 8 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals, thus ranking 3rd overall.
The highlight of the Vietnamese delegation's pride lies in the two valuable gold medals in the Sanda (combat) event. Female martial artist Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy displayed skillful technique and outstanding composure, securing a convincing 2-1 victory against Zhang Xiaoyu of China in the 60kg weight category.
Following her success, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hien affirmed her position with a 2-0 victory over Chan Tsz Ching of Hong Kong (China) in the women's 56kg category, bringing great pride to Vietnamese sports .
In addition to the two gold medals, Vietnamese athletes made a significant contribution to the delegation's total medal count. Vu Van Tuan and Nguyen Thi Hien won two silver medals in the Taolu (performance) category, alongside six other silver and two bronze medals from other events. Among them, Do Duc Tai was a standout performer in the Taolu category.
The Vietnamese Wushu team participated in this tournament with 19 athletes, including familiar names such as Duong Thuy Vi, Dang Tran Phuong Nhi, and Nong Van Huu. Although some athletes did not win medals, they still played an important role in supporting and contributing to the overall success of the team.
The 2025 Asian Cup event marks a significant milestone as Taolu is included in the official competition program for the first time, alongside Sanda, creating more opportunities for Vietnamese martial artists to showcase their talent.
Team leader Vu Van Trung shared that this result is a great source of motivation for the team to prepare for upcoming major tournaments, including the 33rd SEA Games, the 2025 World Games, and the 2025 World Championships.
Outstanding performance at the 2025 Asian Cup not only reaffirms the position of Vietnamese Wushu on the regional sports map but also opens up bright prospects for even greater successes in the future.
