Coach Truong Minh Sang celebrated enthusiastically with his students' outstanding performance. With the SEA Games 33 organizing committee removing the all-around and team events, the three gold medals won by Xuan Thien, Khanh Phong, and Phuong Thanh exceeded the team's target.
In addition, yesterday afternoon, Dinh Phuong Thanh also won another bronze medal in the horizontal bar event.

Ten years ago, at the 2015 SEA Games held in Singapore, Dinh Phuong Thanh, then 20 years old, brilliantly won the gold medal in the all-around event along with two individual events: parallel bars and horizontal bar.

He also won another team gold medal, bringing his total to four gold medals. This was also the most successful SEA Games for the athlete born in 1995.

Two years later, at the 29th SEA Games, in the horizontal bar event, Dinh Phuong Thanh only won a silver medal. His teammate Le Thanh Tung from the Vietnamese gymnastics team performed better and won the gold medal.

Dinh Phuong Thanh maintained his excellent form in his specialty event, the parallel bars, and won the gold medal in the individual event.
Thus, in his second SEA Games appearance, Phuong Thanh won 2 gold medals and 1 silver medal.

In their third SEA Games appearance, held in the Philippines in 2019, the Vietnamese men's gymnastics team missed out on the team gold medal because the host country, the Philippines, removed the event from the competition.

However, Phuong Thanh continued to be unrivaled in the parallel bars event. He also won another gold medal in the horizontal bar event.

Although the pommel horse event is not his forte, the "white horse prince" still managed to bring home another bronze medal to add to his personal best. At this SEA Games, Phuong Thanh won 2 gold medals and 1 bronze medal.

At the 31st SEA Games held in Vietnam in 2022, with the support of thousands of spectators at the Quan Ngua Sports Palace ( Hanoi ), Phuong Thanh and her teammates reclaimed the gold medal in the team event.

He continued his unbeaten streak in the parallel bars and horizontal bar events and won another bronze medal in the all-around competition. At the SEA Games held in Vietnam, Phuong Thanh won 3 gold medals and 1 bronze medal.

Competing in his 5th consecutive SEA Games, "prince" Phuong Thanh has become a senior figure, leading younger athletes like Khanh Phong, Xuan Thien, Vi Luong, and Hai Khang to win the team gold medal alongside Le Thanh Tung.

In addition, he also brilliantly won the gold medal in the horizontal bar event. This was a tremendous effort because just minutes before, he had finished competing in the parallel bars event, which had depleted a lot of his energy.

In his specialty event, the parallel bars, Phuong Thanh only lost to world champion Carlos Yulo from the Philippines, settling for the silver medal. In the all-around event, he also finished behind Carlos Yulo and Le Thanh Tung of Vietnam.
At the 32nd SEA Games held in Cambodia, Phuong Thanh won 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 1 bronze medal in the all-around competition.

After 10 years of consistent competition in the regional arena, Dinh Phuong Thanh has become the first Vietnamese athlete to simultaneously set two records: participating in 6 consecutive SEA Games and winning 14 gold medals - equaling the record of "queen" of athletics Nguyen Thi Huyen.
At the age of 30, the "prince" of Vietnamese gymnastics is considering whether, if his health and performance remain stable, he would like to continue contributing his personal efforts to the team's overall achievements in future SEA Games.
