The Oolong tea hill near the O Quy Ho pass, in Sa Pa ward , is the most beautiful cherry blossom viewing spot, a top attraction in Sa Pa during winter. Rows of cherry blossoms in full bloom stretch along the entrance, interspersed with rows of dark green tea plants, creating a scene straight out of a romantic movie. When the flowers bloom simultaneously, the contrasting pink and green hues create a rare splash of color in the mountainous Northwest during winter.
The tea hills resemble a "miniature Europe." However, in recent days, many visitors to the tea hills have expressed disappointment because they are no longer allowed to go inside each individual flower to take photos as in previous years.

To capture the last photos before these famous cherry blossom trees "disappear," they had no choice but to follow the trails through the vegetable gardens of the surrounding households.

The cherry blossoms of Sa Pa are different from those of the lowlands or Japanese cherry blossoms. The trees are tall and straight, with wide canopies, and the flowers bloom in dense clusters of deep, bright pink. Even on the coldest days, when temperatures drop, the blossoms become even more vibrant and striking against the thick fog.

From late November to mid-December is the peak season in Sa Pa, attracting a large number of tourists as the flower season is considered the "emotional highlight." Visitors come not only to take photos but also to enjoy the cool, fresh, and clean air.

Loi Son Dien One-Member Limited Company, the unit managing this area, stated that in 2025, the company will be renovating the cherry blossom orchard and will therefore temporarily suspend visits. The closure aims to avoid the risk of accidents during the renovation process. Currently, workers are digging up more than 1,300 cherry blossom trees to prepare for relocation to another area in Lai Chau province for replanting.
Previously, the People's Committee of Lao Cai province issued Decision No. 1794/QD-UBND approving the investment policy and the investor for the O Quy Ho Tea Hill Ecological Urban Area Project in Sa Pa ward. The project covers an area of 29.39 hectares, with an estimated population of approximately 1,451 people, and a total investment of over 2,424 billion VND.
Therefore, from the early morning mist, workers and bulldozers were already present at the tea plantation, some digging the soil, others using nets to bundle each cherry blossom tree trunk before loading them onto large trucks.
During the cherry blossom season, many visitors express regret and disappointment at seeing the cherry blossom trees being uprooted at the very time when they are in their most beautiful bloom.

Not only is Oolong tea hill an ideal tourist destination in Sa Pa for beautiful photos, but it also offers visitors exciting activities such as tea picking and enjoying fresh tea. However, this is the last time visitors will be able to admire over 1,300 cherry blossom trees in full bloom. From next winter onwards, this place will only remain in the memories of those who have visited.
