According to Mr. Nguyen Chau A, Director of Oxalis Tourism Company, the unit currently operating tours to Son Doong Cave, this exploration site started selling tours on August 1, 2013, and to date, 8,552 visitors have conquered the world's largest cave. Leading the way are Vietnamese tourists with 3,293 people, followed by American tourists with 2,271 people.
"Son Doong Cave tours are fully booked until the end of 2027," he added. The fact that Son Doong Cave tours are fully booked for such a long period has created a "scarcity" and anticipation among adventure tourism enthusiasts worldwide, and has created opportunities for less strenuous tours in the area to attract more visitors. Currently, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park has become the "world's largest cave exploration tourism center" with nearly 50,000 visitors annually.

Mr. Chau Asia stated that the total revenue since its operation began is $25.5 million (over 700 billion VND), and the fees paid to the National Park amount to $5 million, creating direct jobs for 130 local people and hundreds of indirect jobs.
The Son Doong cave exploration tour is considered one of the most exclusive in Vietnam, not only because of the arduous journey involving mountain climbing and venturing deep into the cave, requiring good physical fitness, but also because of its high price. Each tour is limited to fewer than 10 participants, and the company does not accept more than 1,000 people per year.
The current price for a Son Doong tour is over 70 million VND for a 6-day, 5-night program, including entrance fees of 390 USD, forest environmental service fees of 210 USD, wildlife rescue support fees in Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park of 20 USD, and other fees of 10 USD (per person).
However, besides the Son Doong tour, if tourists are looking for similar experiences without a long wait, there are two other destinations: "Ba Hang Deep Forest Exploration" and "Tu Lan Exploration".
Son Doong Cave has been consistently praised by international media in recent times, and most recently, the renowned British travel magazine Time Out selected it as one of the top 10 most beautiful caves in the world.
Located in the mountainous region of Quang Binh province, this colossal chasm boasts the largest cross-section of any known cave on the planet, an area so vast it's difficult to describe. It's believed a Boeing 747 could fly through without damaging its wings. The stalactites here are also quite massive, some reaching heights of up to 70 meters.
"Son Doong Cave is nearly 9 km long, with ceiling heights reaching up to 200m in some places, and a width of 160m. It is currently recognized as the world's largest cave, with a volume of approximately 38.5 million cubic meters," Time Out wrote.
