The Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway, a project eagerly awaited for many years, is nearing completion.

After nearly three years of construction, the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway is nearing completion, ready for inauguration on December 19, 2025, as directed by the Government.

The Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway, with a total investment of over 20,400 billion VND, is 88km long and passes through the territories of two provinces: Quang Ngai (60.3km) and Gia Lai (27.7km).

Around mid-December, the contractor was finalizing the installation of road signs, painting road markings, cleaning the road surface, etc.

The Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway includes 77 bridges, 586 culverts, and 81 pedestrian underpasses. The image shows the Song Ve bridge (in Dinh Cuong commune), measuring 610m in length, making it the largest bridge in the project.

The Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway has three tunnels through the mountains with a total length of 4,500m, of which tunnel number 3 is 3,200m long - the largest tunnel on the North-South expressway.

Tunnels No. 1 and No. 2 have completed the installation of equipment and are currently undergoing trial runs of the ventilation system, lighting, public address system, fire fighting equipment, etc.

Tunnel No. 3 is 3,200m long and contains 20 jet fans, 1,734 lighting fixtures with power ranging from 40-220W, and various other equipment, all of which are being urgently installed and cleaned.

In the tunnel sections, the construction unit drew on experience from many previous complex projects and innovated tunnel excavation methods, helping to shorten construction time and contributing to bringing the project to completion 8 months ahead of schedule.

The Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon Expressway connects to the Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway at its starting point and to the Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon Expressway at its end point. Once operational, this expressway will not only alleviate traffic congestion on National Highway 1 but also open up a new economic connection axis, fully unlocking the region's development potential and creating a growth impetus for the entire country.

This is one of more than 3,000km of expressways nationwide, connecting Cao Bang to Ca Mau, opening up a new look for the transportation infrastructure system and providing impetus for socio-economic development for decades to come.
