This joint venture aims to support organizations, particularly financial institutions, that are using mainframe technology and legacy systems programmed in the COBOL language, ensuring operational continuity and promoting digital transformation.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of FPT Group, Truong Gia Binh, and Mr. Takaaki Toma - CEO and Chairman of SCSK, at the founding ceremony of COBOL PARK.
The new joint venture also demonstratesFPT and SCSK's commitment to jointly addressing the "Digital Cliff 2025"—a challenge that the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has warned about, highlighting the urgent need for maintenance and modernization of legacy systems, especially mainframe computers.
Built upon legacy technologies like COBOL, mainframe computers remain the primary technology platform for financial institutions due to their powerful processing capabilities and high reliability. However, the COBOL engineering workforce for this platform is rapidly aging, leading to a shortage of resources. COBOL PARK will provide human resources and strategic planning for Japanese financial businesses to ensure business continuity, while also offering a clear roadmap for future modernization and system transformation. The Japanese financial system transformation market is estimated at 500 billion yen.
COBOL PARK was established in 2018 as part of a partnership between FPT and SCSK in the field of IT services in the Asia- Pacific region. The joint venture is expected to leverage SCSK's more than 50 years of experience in deploying systems for various industries in Japan with FPT's technological expertise, global network of experts, and highly qualified young workforce.
At the same time, FPT will leverage its strengths in artificial intelligence (AI) to provide AI-integrated solutions that modernize mainframe systems, optimize operational efficiency, and deliver long-term results for customers.
