The Can Tho River Culture Festival 2025 officially begins on December 27th.

On December 12th, the People's Committee of Can Tho City issued the Plan for Organizing the Can Tho River Culture Festival in 2025, replacing previous plans and announcements related to the organization of this festival.

Accordingly, the Can Tho River Culture Festival 2025 will be organized with the theme "Can Tho - The Colors of the River" on a city-wide scale. The festival will take place from December 27, 2025 to January 1, 2026, focusing on Ninh Kieu ward, Cai Khe ward, and surrounding areas.

The Can Tho River Culture Festival 2025 is organized to create a cultural and tourism highlight, to practically welcome the new year 2026, contributing to creating a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere, and enhancing the cultural and spiritual life of the people.

To introduce and promote the unique riverine culture of the Mekong Delta in general and Can Tho city in particular to local people and domestic and international tourists; at the same time, to raise community awareness in environmental protection, especially the riverine ecosystem, and encourage sustainable tourism development; to enhance the effective exploitation of resources and tourism products on the river; to develop inner-city tourism routes, connecting river tourism between Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho city with the provinces of the Mekong Delta; and to expand linkages in developing river tourism routes connecting with countries along the Mekong River.

At the same time, diversifying and enhancing the distinctive cultural and tourism events of Can Tho city will create a ripple effect, contributing to the development of other economic sectors and the overall socio-economic development of the city.

The festival will be held with an opening art program broadcast live on Can Tho Newspaper, Radio, and Television at 8:00 PM on December 27, 2025, at Rach Khai Luong, Cai Khe Ward. The program will portray the distinctive riverine culture of Can Tho city through stories about boats, daily life, livelihoods associated with the river, as well as festivals, folk beliefs, and cuisine. The program will recreate the image of floating markets – a vibrant and multifaceted symbol of the riverine culture of the Mekong Delta; especially the floating markets (Cai Rang, Nga Nam, Nga Bay) will be introduced as a unique symbol, contributing to promoting Can Tho tourism, attracting domestic and international tourists, and aiming for sustainable tourism development linked to the economic and cultural growth of the locality.

The drone show and fireworks display will take place at 9:30 PM on December 27th, immediately following the conclusion of the art program. The drone light show will recreate images depicting the culture and traditional values ​​of Can Tho city, its heritage, distinctive architecture, vision, and future development direction… followed by a low-altitude fireworks display.

Besides the main activities, the festival will include cultural and artistic events: a photo exhibition "Life on the River - The Mekong Delta Past and Present" from December 27, 2025 to January 1, 2026 at Ben Ninh Kieu Park, Ninh Kieu Ward; street acoustic music performances from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM from December 28, 2025 to January 1, 2026 at Ben Ninh Kieu Park, Ninh Kieu Ward; and a lantern release on the river from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on December 28, 2025 in the Cai Khe Canal area, Cai Khe Ward.

BTC will also organize tours of sports and health booths, showcasing products, services, and gifts related to sports and healthcare; a plastic waste recycling and reuse model aimed at building a green, clean, and sustainable living space; a distinctive food area, a riverside-themed check-in space, and mini-games for festival visitors.

Water Sports Experience Zone: Services include stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) experience, basic technique instruction, and popularization of stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) and kayaking; sailing on the Hau River; parade and the 2025 Can Tho City Expanded SUP Boat Race; flyboard demonstration and the 2025 Can Tho City Expanded Composite Boat Racing Championship.

Participating in the Festival, the Organizing Committee also presented a program to stimulate waterway tourism with activities such as: commissioning cruise operators to organize experiential tours for delegates, guests, and Famtrip groups (morning visit to Cai Rang Floating Market; afternoon visit and check-in at Can Tho Bridge at sunset); encouraging tourism service businesses, restaurants, and hotels to develop and introduce river tours at promotional prices; organizing exhibition spaces to showcase OCOP products, tourism products, and culinary demonstrations from various localities…

Environmental protection activities on rivers and waterways will take place from December 15th to 25th, 2025, in Ninh Kieu Ward, Cai Rang Ward, An Binh Ward, and Cai Khe Ward. Simultaneously, in communes and wards throughout the city, activities will include garbage collection, removal of floating debris, clearing and cleaning of riverbanks and canals; raising public awareness about protecting the water environment and reducing indiscriminate waste disposal; and organizing SUP (Stand-Up Paddleboarding) garbage cleanup programs along the river routes where the festival is held and key river sections.
