Specifically, in Karate, Vietnamese athletes Nguyen Thi Phuong, Nguyen Ngoc Tram, and Hoang Thi Thu Uyen performed excellently, defeating host country Thailand to win the gold medal in the women's team Kata final, which kicked off the competition day on December 11th.

Following the success of Karate, Taekwondo also brought home the second gold medal for Nguyen Hong Trong in the men's 54kg sparring category. Against his Indonesian opponent, Hong Trong dominated the match to win the gold medal.
The third gold medal this afternoon went to MMA, won by Quang Van Minh in the -65kg modern MMA category. Against his Malaysian opponent, the Vietnamese fighter dominated, defeating his opponent to secure another gold medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation. However, MMA at the SEA Games 33 is only for demonstration purposes, so Van Minh's gold medal is not counted towards the overall medal tally, as is the case with Duong Thi Thanh Binh's silver medal earlier. The remaining MMA gold medal went to Tran Ngoc Luong.
Vietnam's next gold medals on December 11th came from gymnastics. In the pommel horse event, athlete Dang Ngoc Xuan Thien performed excellently with a score of 11.367 points, surpassing the Singaporean athlete to win the gold medal. His teammate Nguyen Van Khanh Phong achieved a score of 13.767, also beating his Indonesian opponent to win the gold medal.
In athletics, a sport in which Vietnam excels, athlete Ho Trong Manh Hung achieved a total score of 16.33 meters in the triple jump, far surpassing his competitors in the final at the Supachalasai Stadium, bringing Vietnam its first gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games. Immediately afterwards, runner Bui Thi Ngan also won the gold medal in the women's 1500m.
In the evening events, on the "green track," Pham Thanh Bao (100m breaststroke men), the Vietnamese men's swimming team consisting of Tran Hung Nguyen, Nguyen Huy Hoang, Nguyen Viet Tuong, and Tran Van Nguyen Quoc (4x200m freestyle relay men) successively brought home more gold medals for the Vietnamese sports delegation.
The remaining gold medals went to Dang Dinh Tung (Jujitsu - newaza Gi 69kg men) and Tran Quoc Cuong and Phan Minh Hanh (Judo - Nage no Kata).
