Hue City is actively promoting the development of a heritage, cultural, green, and smart city, considering this a consistent direction throughout its new development phase, aiming to become a centrally-governed city.

Tourism and services continue to be identified as key economic sectors, linked to the preservation and promotion of Hue's heritage and cultural identity. The city aims to welcome 7-7.5 million visitors, generating approximately 15,000 billion VND in tourism revenue. Simultaneously, it will expand its international market, strengthen regional linkages, develop more direct flights, and increase the frequency of domestic flights.

Alongside economic development, Hue City prioritizes green growth, sustainable urbanization, improving the quality of human resources and social welfare, aiming towards becoming a model of a heritage, cultural, green, and smart city in the future.

Despite being heavily impacted by natural disasters and regional economic fluctuations, Hue City is expected to maintain a stable growth rate of approximately 8.5-9% in 2025, with estimated budget revenue of 15,000 billion VND and total social investment of around 40,000 billion VND.
