According to statistics from Oxalis Adventure, the only licensed operator of Son Doong Cave tours, 3,293 Vietnamese tourists have experienced the journey into the world's largest cave, followed by the United States (2,271), Australia (532), the United Kingdom (317), and Canada (277).

With a length of approximately 9 km, a widest point of 150-160 m, and a cave ceiling reaching a height of 200 m, Son Doong Cave (Quang Tri) has become one of the dream destinations for adventure travel enthusiasts worldwide.

Beyond its exploratory value, the Son Doong cave exploration journey has also made a significant economic impact. From August 1, 2013 to the present, tour operations have generated $25.5 million in revenue, contributed $5 million in fees to Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, and created direct employment for 130 local people, along with hundreds of indirect jobs.

Speaking to Tri Thức - Znews , Mr. Nguyen Chau A, CEO of Oxalis Adventure, said that this adventure tour is currently fully booked until the end of 2027.

"Such long periods of full occupancy create scarcity, making Son Doong a coveted destination for any adventurous traveler," he said.

The increased demand also creates opportunities for lower-level adventure tours in the area to attract more attention.

Each year, Phong Nha - Ke Bang welcomes approximately 50,000 visitors participating in adventure tourism products, solidifying its position as "the world's largest cave exploration tourism center".

Despite leading in total cumulative visitors over the past 12 years, Mr. Chau Asia stated that the percentage of Vietnamese tourists is now only about 16.5%, lower than the same period in 2019. The reason is that international tourists tend to book early, while Vietnamese tourists prioritize overseas tours when prices are comparable.

According to suggestions from the tour operators, if tourists enjoy adventure but don't want to wait too long, they can consider two outstanding options: exploring the deep jungle of Ba Cave or exploring Tu Lan. These journeys offer a moderate level of challenge, more flexible timing, and are suitable for tourists who want to experience the thrill of conquest without a long wait.
