Hanoi has made a pioneering mark in successfully organizing new generation sports at the 11th Hanoi Sports Festival - 2025.

Recently, at the Quan Ngua Sports Arena, the Hanoi City Esports and Entertainment Association (HSA) successfully organized the finals of the next-generation sports competitions. This event marked a historic turning point as it was the first time that esports and physical sports were included as official competitive events at the Hanoi City Sports Festival.

For the first time, new generation sports are participating in the Hanoi Sports Festival.

Bringing together talented athletes

Within the framework of the 11th Hanoi Sports Festival in 2025, the group of new generation sports attracted great attention from experts and fans. This year's finals saw the competition of nearly 200 outstanding athletes, representing 10 cultural and sports clusters across the city.

The athletes delivered spectacular performances to compete for 6 prestigious medal sets, including: 3 sets of medals in Esports: E-Football, E-Basketball, and Game Dance (Au-HotstepMobi); and 3 sets of medals in Physical Sports: Football, Basketball, and Stepin.

The mark of "Physical Sport" and the pioneering position of Hanoi Sports

The most notable highlight of this year's Games is the emergence of the Physical Sports model. This is a modern sports trend that combines competitive skills in a digital environment with real-world physical activity, integrating e-sports and traditional sports such as: e-football combined with 5x5 football; e-basketball combined with 3x3 basketball; and multi-discipline recreational sports dance (5 disciplines), currently popular among young people and residents throughout the capital, such as folk sports dance, modern dance, breaking dance, shuffle dance, and cheer dance, integrated with the Hotstep Mobile dance game.

The Games' general competition program also features a completely new competition event, STEPPIN, introduced by the Vietnam Entertainment Esports Association (VIRESA) in collaboration with the Organizing Committee and the professional board. This event also serves as an opportunity to provide additional skills training for nearly 40 national referees in the field of recreational sports dance, with the aim of expanding the model and contributing to the development of new generation sports in Hanoi in particular and the whole country in general.

The fact that the Hanoi City Sports and Recreation Association (HSA) was assigned the main task of advising and overseeing professional matters by the Department of Culture and Sports, and entrusted with including these contents in the official competition system of a quadrennial Games, not only demonstrates innovative thinking and keeping up with global trends but also affirms the leading position of Hanoi's sports in the digital transformation of the sports sector.

The successful organization of competitions in new-generation sports at the 2025 Hanoi Sports Festival is an important prerequisite for Hanoi to continue expanding this model, thereby discovering and nurturing young talents, aiming for the overall development of the country, and preparing them to compete in regional and international arenas in the future.

- Physical Stepin category: Gold Medal - HSA Breaking team, Long Bien ward (Cluster 5); Silver Medal - Me Tri Shuffle team, Tu Liem ward (Cluster 4).
