Mr. Thai Van Thanh was elected as Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province.

VTV.vn - The People's Council of Nghe An province elected Mr. Thai Van Thanh, Director of the Department of Education and Training, to the position of Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province.

On December 11th, the Nghe An Provincial People's Council , 18th term, 2021-2026, held its 35th session (regular session at the end of 2025).

At the meeting, Mr. Vo Trong Hai, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, presented a proposal to nominate Mr. Thai Van Thanh, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Department of Education and Training, for the position of Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.

Subsequently, the Provincial People's Council proceeded with the process of electing an additional Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee through a secret ballot. With 60 out of 60 delegates (100%) present voting in favor, the Provincial People's Council unanimously elected Mr. Thai Van Thanh to the position of Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee.

Subsequently, the Nghe An Provincial People's Council passed a Resolution confirming the election results for the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term for Mr. Thai Van Thanh.

Mr. Thai Van Thanh, born in 1969, is from Vinh Tan ward (formerly), now Thanh Vinh ward, Nghe An province. He is a Professor and Doctor of Education; and holds an advanced level in Political Theory.

Prior to being elected as Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, Mr. Thai Van Thanh had worked for many years at Vinh University, serving as Vice Rector of Vinh University.

In March 2019, he was appointed Party Secretary and Director of the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An province, becoming the first professor to hold this position in Nghe An. He is currently a member of the 15th National Assembly representing Nghe An province.

Currently, the leadership of the Nghe An Provincial People 's Committee includes: Chairman Vo Trong Hai; Vice Chairmen Bui Thanh An, Nguyen Van De, Hoang Phu Hien, Phung Thanh Vinh, and the newly elected Thai Van Thanh.

In Resolution No. 137/2024/QH15 dated June 26, 2024, on supplementing the pilot program of some specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Nghe An province, effective from January 1, 2025, the National Assembly allows the People's Committee of Nghe An province to have no more than 5 Vice Chairmen .

The province has been assigned an additional Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to oversee the mountainous region, aiming to strengthen leadership and guidance in the socio-economic development of Western Nghe An province, in accordance with the orientation set forth in Resolution No. 39-NQ/TW dated July 18, 2023, of the Politburo on building and developing Nghe An province until 2030, with a vision to 2045.

At the session, the Nghe An Provincial People 's Council proceeded to dismiss Mr. Chu The Huyen, a member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and former Chief Inspector of the province, from his position as a member of the Provincial People 's Committee for the 2021-2026 term (he has been transferred and assigned to participate in the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee, and hold the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of Muong Xen commune for the 2025-2030 term).

The Provincial People's Council also elected Mr. Vu Tuan Dung, Chief Inspector of Nghe An province, as an additional member of the Provincial People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.
