Van Don currently has 271 hectares of orange orchards, concentrated most heavily in the Van Yen area with 170 hectares, with an estimated production of 600 tons in 2025. In recent years, the locality has intensified its campaign to promote Van Yen oranges, building a brand for this distinctive agricultural product, linked to experiential tourism. As a result, Van Yen oranges have become a typical OCOP product, favored by markets both within and outside the province.
This year, the Van Don Special Economic Zone will continue to organize the Orange Festival on a larger scale, with more creativity and appeal. It is expected to feature 15-20 stalls, designed in a "rural market" style, showcasing Van Yen oranges, OCOP products, and many other local agricultural specialties. Alongside these will be attractive cultural, artistic, culinary , and traditional experience programs. The Van Don Orange Festival 2025 aims to promote the Van Yen orange brand, create opportunities for trade promotion, enhance product value, link agriculture with community tourism, increase income for local people; encourage the preservation of the native orange variety; and promote the potential, advantages, and image of the Van Don Special Economic Zone, towards sustainable tourism development.
Currently, the orange orchards in the area are in full bloom, with bright golden oranges, ready to welcome visitors. Along with that, orange growers are busy preparing decorations and cleaning up to welcome locals and tourists to experience the orchards. Mr. Tran Danh Dai, from village 10/10, said: "My family currently grows about 3 hectares of oranges, and we expect to harvest about 7-9 tons, enough to meet the demand for the festival. These days, we are both harvesting oranges to sell to traders and actively tidying up the orchards to welcome visitors. Many visitors have already come to experience and take photos in the orchards, contributing to the strong promotion of the orange festival. The annual orange festival has helped us orange growers sell our produce better and earn more income from our local OCOP (One Commune One Product) products."

Ms. Nguyen Thu Van, from Quang Hanh ward, a visitor to the orange orchard, shared: "For the past two or three years, my friends and I have regularly visited the orange orchards in the Van Don Special Economic Zone to experience and buy oranges. The oranges here have a unique quality – they are very refreshing, sweet, and juicy, which my friends and I find incredibly enjoyable. Moreover, the scenery is beautiful and the atmosphere is friendly, making it an unmissable destination at the end of the year. This year, I will definitely bring my family and friends to the 2025 Orange Festival to experience it again."
In particular, the Van Don Orange Festival 2025 will continue to feature a series of interactive and hands-on activities, creating a vibrant atmosphere for visitors. Specifically, these include: a "Fastest and Most Skillful Orange Picker" competition for orange growers; a "Beautiful and Creative Booth" competition at booths displaying oranges and OCOP products; a "Beautifully Arranged Orange Basket" competition among orchard owners; and opportunities for visitors to experience picking oranges and taking photos in the orchards…

This year's Orange Festival also features a contest for visitors themed "Check-in - Create your own photos with Van Don oranges." Visitors can take photos or videos at the orange orchards, exhibition areas, or OCOP booths, and post them publicly on social media platforms like Facebook, TikTok, and Zalo with the hashtags: #LeHoiCamVanDon2025 #CamVanYen, and send the link to the "DDCI Van Don Special Economic Zone" fanpage. The submission period is from November 15th to December 13th, 2025. Prizes will be awarded based on the level of interaction and sharing on social media platforms. In addition, the festival will include many traditional folk games such as tug-of-war and stick pushing to create a lively and joyful atmosphere for visitors and locals.
Mr. Dao Van Vu, Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Van Don Special Economic Zone, said: "To prepare for the Van Don Orange Festival 2025, we have assigned specialized agencies, cooperatives, and orange growers to coordinate meticulously to make it attractive and create a joyful atmosphere for locals and tourists. The festival is expected to become a highlight, attracting a large number of tourists to Van Don at the end of the year. Besides the Orange Festival, the Van Don Special Economic Zone will also organize the Peach Blossom Festival in February 2026, aiming to further enrich the spring tourism product chain and promote and boost trade in Van Don peach blossoms. This will not only honor the cultural and agricultural values and build a brand for the local tourism products, but also contribute to affirming the province's brand as a 'four-season destination'."
