Entering the final event of the first day of competition at the 33rd SEA Games , Vietnamese taekwondo athletes faced immense pressure as they had failed to bring home gold medals for the Vietnamese delegation in previous events, and had even been unfairly treated by the referees.

The team of five athletes, Nguyen Xuan Thanh, Tram Dang Khoa, Tran Ho Duy, Le Tran Kim Uyen, Nguyen Phan Khanh Han, and Nguyen Thi Y Binh, competed in the creative team event.

The Vietnamese fighters displayed great confidence.

This is a discipline that requires martial artists to have skillful movements and perform them with high precision at a high level of difficulty.

This performance prompted the entire arena to stand up and applaud the Vietnamese athletes.

In the final round, the Vietnamese team performed at the highest difficulty level.

But the athletes didn't make a single mistake.

The Vietnamese athletes finished the competition with 8,060 points, ahead of Thailand, who won the silver medal with 7,940 points, and the Philippines, who won the bronze medal with 7,580 points.

This is the first gold medal for Vietnamese taekwondo on December 10th. Prior to this, the taekwondo team won one silver and one bronze medal.

The Vietnamese fighters had an emotional celebration.
