Residents of Tinh Bien ward hand over a blue peacock to the forest rangers.

Specifically, a white peacock weighing 4.5kg and a blue peacock weighing 5kg were voluntarily handed over by Mr. Bui Van Dan, residing in Ba Den hamlet, An Cu commune ( An Giang province), and Mr. Dang Thanh Trieu, residing in Tinh Bien ward.

Mr. Dang Thanh Trieu stated that, after investigation, the blue peacock, scientifically known as Pavomuticus, is a protected wild animal, and therefore voluntarily handed it over to the forest protection unit.

After receiving the animals, the Forest Protection Department of Region I checked their health and handed them over to the Hon Me wildlife rescue station for care and release back into the wild.

Over the past period, the Forest Protection Department of Region I has actively propagated information and taken action to prevent and handle violations of laws related to wildlife protection in its managed area. The fact that people proactively report and hand over rare animals shows that the awareness campaigns of the forest protection force have been effective, and people are increasingly aware of the importance of protecting wild animals.
