In the women's singles badminton round of 16 match, held this afternoon (December 11th), Nguyen Thuy Linh, as the 4th seed, was considered the favorite against Amartya Pratiwi (ranked 82nd in the world ).

Thùy Linh made many errors in the first set, at one point trailing her opponent 9-15. However, drawing on her extensive experience, the number one Vietnamese female tennis player scored a series of points afterward to finish the first set with a score of 21-16.
In the second set, Thùy Linh once again had a poor start. Amartya Pratiwi consistently led, at one point reaching a 20-17 score.
Through effort and experience, Thùy Linh leveled the score at 20-20. However, the young Indonesian player then scored the two decisive points of the set, winning 22-20 and leveling the score at 1-1 after two sets.
In the third and deciding set, Amartya Pratiwi won quickly with a score of 21-14, and the young Indonesian player won the match 2-1 overall (16-21, 22-20 and 21-14).
In the men's singles event, another hope for Vietnamese badminton at the SEA Games 33, Duc Phat, lost to Zaki Ubaidillah (Indonesia) with a score of 1-2.
