He also expressed his sincere gratitude to the fans, especially the Vietnamese supporters who were present in the stadium to cheer on the team, even though their number was only a little over a dozen among the majority of the Myanmar audience.

Coach Mai Duc Chung shared: “The encouragement from the media and fans gave us more determination to complete the task. We only had one path left: to win to advance, and the whole team fought with the indomitable spirit of Vietnamese women.”

According to the coach, the pressure from the Myanmar fans did not deter the players; on the contrary, it became a motivation for the whole team to play with more enthusiasm. After the loss to the Philippines, the coaching staff adjusted the tactics, proactively pushing the team forward and attacking continuously in order to find a goal.

"If we only played defensively, it would be very difficult. We had to attack to score goals, and that change made sense," he emphasized.

The personnel adjustments also proved effective. Bringing Huỳnh Như onto the field to control the tempo, adding two young midfielders to strengthen the midfield, and maintaining a solid three-man central defense helped the team control the game. Both goals by Vạn Sự and Bích Thùy stemmed from well-rehearsed attacking strategies.

Coach Mai Duc Chung particularly praised the fighting spirit of his players. Van Su, despite being only 1.53m tall, made a decisive jump to score the opening goal. Tran Thi Duyen continued to show her maturity over three consecutive matches, defending tightly and directly assisting the first goal.

Looking ahead to the semi-final match against Indonesia, coach Mai Duc Chung affirmed that the team will prepare thoroughly: “Indonesia and Malaysia have both made progress. We respect our opponents and will focus our utmost efforts on the upcoming match.”

Ngân Thị Vạn Sự, the scorer of the opening goal, emotionally stated: “Today’s match was very stressful, but coach Mai Đức Chung always encouraged us to be strong and confident. Thanks to the coaching staff’s sound tactics, the whole team performed well and achieved the desired result. I am very proud of this victory.”

The semi-final matches of the women's football tournament at the 33rd SEA Games will take place on December 14th. In the first semi-final, the Vietnamese women's team will face Indonesia at 4 PM. At 6:30 PM, Thailand will take on the Philippines in the second semi-final. These matches promise to be exciting as all four teams are determined to reach the final.
