
On the afternoon of December 11th, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine ( Ministry of Health ) held a ceremony to announce and award the titles of Professor and Associate Professor for the year 2025.
At the announcement ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Quoc Binh, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council, and Vice Chairman of the Faculty Council, stated: Based on Decision No. 37/2018/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister dated August 31, 2018, promulgating regulations on standards, procedures for recognizing and appointing the titles of Professor and Associate Professor, and procedures for revoking recognition and dismissing Professors and Associate Professors, the Faculty Council of the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine was established and operates in accordance with the regulations of the State-level Faculty Council.
On November 19, 2025, the State Council of Professors issued Decision No. 79/QD-HDGSNN of the Chairman of the State Council of Professors recognizing 45 educators as meeting the standards for the title of Professor and 569 educators as meeting the standards for the title of Associate Professor. Following the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine receiving applications for the title of Associate Professor from 10 educators, the Academy established a Council to review and appoint Associate Professors.

Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Quoc Binh further stated: On November 26, 2025, the Appointment Review Council met and unanimously voted 100% in favor of recommending the appointment of one Associate Professor for reappointment and nine other educators who had applied for the position. On December 11, 2025, the Director of the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine issued a decision appointing 10 Associate Professors, including one who was reappointed.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Huy, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Director of the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine, and Member of the Institutional Professor Council, emphasized: The recognition of standards and appointment of Professor and Associate Professor titles is a major and important policy of the Party and State aimed at building, training, and utilizing a team of leading and key scientific personnel in training and research institutions according to national standards, gradually approaching advanced standards in the region and the world.
Notably, over the past five years, the academy has appointed one Professor and 37 Associate Professors; these faculty members have made and continue to make positive and important contributions to improving the quality of education and training, scientific research, and technology transfer, contributing to the building and development of the academy.
In 2025, the State Council of Professors recognized 71 educators as Professors and 829 educators as Associate Professors. Among them, the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine was honored to have 4 educators recognized as Associate Professors. This is the result of the persistent efforts in scientific research and training of the newly appointed Associate Professors, along with the support and encouragement from their families, institutions, and colleagues. This year's recognition of Professor and Associate Professor titles will continue to make a significant contribution to improving both the quantity and quality of the academy's intellectual and teaching staff.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Huy expressed his hope that the newly appointed Associate Professors would continue to work alongside the academy in promoting teaching, scientific research, and international publications, thereby affirming the prestige of the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine, one of the five key national schools of the Ministry of Health approved by the Prime Minister.

Representing the 10 newly appointed Associate Professors, the Deputy Director of the Central Acupuncture Hospital, the new Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Phuong Dong, expressed his profound gratitude to the generations of teachers and predecessors who have inspired, guided, and mentored him throughout his studies and research. The title of Associate Professor is not only a personal honor but also a great responsibility for the development of Vietnamese medicine.
“In the coming period, we will continue to strengthen scientific research in the direction of integrating traditional medicine with modern medicine based on evidence; improve the quality of teaching, apply advanced training models, and put learners at the center; develop a young team, and support students and researchers in their research orientation and international integration.”
On the other hand, promoting international cooperation, expanding multi-center research topics, increasing international publications, and bringing Vietnamese medicine further on the world map; preserving the essence of traditional national medicine, while modernizing and standardizing it according to scientific standards, clinical evidence, and practical effectiveness,” Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Phuong Dong affirmed.
