On December 11th, Associate Professor Duong Duc Hung, Director of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, stated that on December 19th, after the contractor hands over the construction of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital's second facility in Ninh Binh to the Ministry of Health , the hospital will then prepare the necessary equipment and machinery.
This facility will begin admitting patients no later than the first quarter of 2026.
The hospital proposes starting operations at 30% capacity in the initial phase, equivalent to 300 beds. Once the system is operating stably, the hospital will expand its scale based on actual needs.
According to Mr. Hung, the second facility is designed to European standards with more modern equipment than the first. The total investment for the second facility exceeds 5,000 billion VND for 1,000 beds, equivalent to more than 5 billion VND per bed, with modern equipment and facilities creating conditions for the hospital to implement high-quality, synchronized techniques. All equipment is configured synchronously, creating an optimal working environment and conditions for implementing complex techniques.
The completion of the second facility was carried out in close coordination between Viet Duc Friendship Hospital and the Project Management Board, ensuring accurate and efficient procurement and technical aspects. The hospital's second facility, once operational, will fundamentally address the long-standing problem of hospital overcrowding.
Regarding the medical staff when the hospital becomes operational, Mr. Hung said that the hospital had started recruiting and training personnel many years ago. Many doctors recruited 6-7 years ago have undergone practical training at the hospital and are now capable of undertaking duties at the new facility.
In addition, the hospital is continuously recruiting more anesthesiologists, nurses, and technicians, and is also accepting applications from medical schools and vocational schools.
The hospital will invest all costs in training personnel, ensuring that the professional quality between the two facilities will be comparable, along with the rotation of personnel from facility 1 to facility 2. However, some specialized and complex surgeries will still be performed in Hanoi , but a clear referral system within the hospital will be established to ensure quality and patient safety.
Alongside improving the skills of its workforce, the hospital continues to add modern equipment, including plans to invest in surgical robots to increase the accuracy, quality of surgeries, and treatment outcomes.
